Shipping a bike from East to West coast?
Just curious if anyone has shipped a bike cross-country. Trying to figure out what kind of $$$ is involved. Thinking of doing a California coast ride.

I've had an R1 shipped from New York for $860, and another R1 shipped from Indianapolis for $550. Both were in enclosed trailers, and handled with extreme care.
Off topic:
Depending on what you have planned, and if you do make it out this way, I'd love to join you on that coast ride. It's been some years since I've done it.

Just a word of advice. Make sure you speak to a shipping company directly. DO NOT USE SHIPPING BROKERS OR COMPANIES THAT MAKE U PAY UP FRONT. They will promise you a low charge and take a downpayment, then try to find someone to transport your bike for that low price but chances are no one will take it for that price and your stuck with your bike sitting there. Then u will either have to wait for someone to come along willing to transport for the price or add more money to your offer to get it shipped. OK..i got that out my system..lol.
I have done it both ways...and dealing with the shippers directly was a lot better experience. btw it cost me about 600 from Iowa to MD.
