After Obama I think we will see more of the same in office. A socialist mindset is drilled into the younger generations these days and its happening at an alarming rate.

I totally respect your efforts, but IMO it's a raindrop in an ocean. I've said it on here before, but I really believe that unless some large natural disaster or incredible hardship (ala the Great Depression) happens and people are actually affected by it, then (enough that they never forget it, and they make sure they pass on their "education" to the next generations, then the plague of ignorance will persevere. I believe our generation is the last generation to have any respect for the lessons of our past. It's no coincidence that our generation was also the last that did not grow up on the internet or with game controllers in our hands.

Totally agree with you. I see two possible paths for this country and neither looks good. I just can't give up on it. I'm compelled to help the next generation develop some leaders with a moral compass and life skills. This country will need them in the next 10 years. Without them the lemmings will follow any retard with a government title. Every kid I teach to be a self sufficient part of polite society is a win. It doesn't take but one leader to start a movement.

During the American Revolution, the active forces in the field against the King's tyranny never amounted to more than 3% of the colonists. They were in turn actively supported by perhaps 10% of the population. In addition to these revolutionaries were perhaps another 20% who favored their cause but did little or nothing to support it. Another one-third of the population sided with the King (by the end of the war there were actually more Americans fighting FOR the King than there were in the field against him) and the final third took no side, blew with the wind and took what came.

I think the generation we are raising now (ages 10 and under) may be the only answer to our future. It seems to me more and more kids in high school are starting to see things from a traditional perspective as well. I like to think there is a paradigm shift coming. Can only hope...

I revere people of like mind like yours. I'm gonna go against Kirk on this and say your effort creates a bunch of raindrops in the ocean that will inevitably cause enough splashes where it becomes visible and affect how the waves hit the shores.
I use to think only those who have served in war post 9/11 are mindfull of the changing real world and have the power to ultimately determine this country's future. That is until two fortunate events. I made a friend in college who's family has never served in the military. Yet, they are the amongst the most patriotic and aware family I've ever met and they support the troops 110% without question. They have old money...rich, active in their community, outspoken on tradition and cultured, open and well informed. I've gotten so close to them that his parents call me their 2nd second son. I'm Asian, they are white as white can be and I absolutely love them. The other person I met served in the state senate for 15 years. He's an eagle scout leader, among being very well connected politcally and professionaly, and never served in the military. He wholeheartedly supports the military and very educated. He make's sure the scouts are educated enough to make up their own minds. I put my faith in them to better this country, just as much as those who have served. Definitely changed my some of my views.
So I appluad and bow down to your service and hope you keep it going.

I just believe in passing along the gifts given to me. Nothing to applaud, but I appreciate it. I never served, so I'll find another way to give back to the country that enabled me to thrive on my own ability.

This is the program I was in when I was younger. http://youngmarines.com/ . I am truly thankful for programs like Boy and Girl Scouts, The Young Marines, Sea Cadets, and the many others out there. Im glad that there are programs out there that take the still teach kids to use the brain they have to be polite, respectful, and to make smart choices. Also while you guys are out shopping for you kids drop something off at you local Toys 4 Tots.

I see your point, but consider for a moment that you are likely in the first "detached" generation, even though you have the military experiences to load your resume with reality. In the situation of Meister molding young minds via Scouting, you're missing the fact that what used to be 6.5 million scouts strong in the 70's is now only 2.5 million strong. With the proliferation of every sport imaginable, the internet, x-box, playstation, wii, pc's, macs, etc... to attract the attention of potential scouts, it's pretty obvious what's going on.
What once was a pretty good rain on the ocean, is now a light sprinkling. It's trending downward, it's not something that is "catching" and is on the rise. And with almost nothing but negative media attention for the last several years over gays in scouting, abusive scout leaders, etc... you're looking at an organization that is every bit as much on the hit list as the NRA is.

I'm waiting for them to start removing extracurricular groups from school because it singles out people not accepted.
I believe the movie Idiocracy looks like the future. No hover cars, no space ships, just social slosh
