For example if you're running 5 mags and #4 fails it will be easier to identify the mag to pull out and repair or replace.

So what does the numbers and letters stand for then. Just trying to understand the meaning of them.

You mean like there is 4a on the magazine? Post a pic if you can so I can be sure we're talking about the same thing

I'd have to look around but they always have different stuff. Mostly it looks like on military use ones though.

Shot a friends 1911 and I gotta admit they are damn nice. I was more accurate with it then my hk45 I just got. Based on reading it appears the 1911 is just a very easy to shoot gun. I need more time with the hk right now, but I think for Erin's next toy it might be a 1911. I think she would love how easy they are to shoot accurately.

Yeah it seems to be just numbering the mags they have for easy identification. Competition shooters number their mags so they can remove the bad mags from the good mags.

Yep. ID mags, which may have problems, different characteristics, age, etc. to rotate/service/maintain, etc.
I do the same with my arrows. I put numbers on them due to slightly different flight patterns, etc. Competition shooters become a bit anal about their equipment.

Wait you can still buy guns in Illinois? Has the $25 extra tax been implemented yet?

I thought Downer's Grove was still pretty safe from most Chicago problems? At least, that's how it was when I was there a few years ago for some training. Used to walk down to Hooter's, drink, hit on the waitresses and bar tender then stumble back to the hotel room.

Palmetto State Armory has free shipping over $50 right now. Good ammo prices but they sell out quick when the free shipping is going on.

I understand the concern, and worry of it happening again from/to someone else. But, many of these types of things can be prevented.
