6k - What would you get????

Hello People

If you have 6k and want a bike - What would you go FOR and WHY? It doesn't have to be R1 just because we are in the forum.

AND let's say you are an experienced rider and you don't have a bike at the moment.

Me personally would like to go for a - Kawasaki ZX-10R - 2010 Model atleast for a year just to see what they are all about

At the moment I own a 2002 R1 and love her to bits. My Pride and Joy

I'd buy a older model bike and upgrade it, followed by tracking the hell out of it. Street bikes, young or old have capabilities beyond the average man and honestly I'd rather have an older bike with shiny go fast parts over a stock new bike

hmmm while I agree with you about the capabilities part, if I have the cash I would like to try something new. But what you say makes sense, I guess most sports bike 1999+ onwards has decent technology and built to last providing you look after them.

They really do last. Personally I'd buy a 04-08 bike ( r1) and most likely it would be tastefully modded, and VERY capable.

Yep. I forgot the current conversion and missed it by a mile. That's almost $10K U.S. That should get a a 2010 litre bike and some $$$ extras all day long.

Good choice, I guess you can pick one for a decent price with low mileage and add some trick bits

BUT you sound absolutely certain that you would go for R1. Wouldn't you even consider trying a different bike ofcourse I fully appreciate it's everyone's personal choice

Hey if you love the R1, Then R1 it is

Oh yeah, the extras for fuel. It's a hell of a price we pay here in UK

Then use that gun to get more money to buy a bike. It's easy. Any bank will do.

Downside to this is availability of parts as the years go by. Sure, there's ebay, etc. But, sometimes you're waiting might become too much.

For myself, I think if I were to look at a different bike, it might be a Kwak ZX6R. Be interesting to try a different brand/model for a while.

True Say :-)

ZX6R - My mate owns one and he loves it. I have ridden one and it's an amazing motor especially on tight country side twistys. Good brakes, handling, light and very flick-able through bends

I am not saying we should give up our love for R1. For me that will never happen. It would be nice to try something new to see how they perform, handle, reliability, looks etc

As some suggested a Glock - It might not be a bad idea. I could even own a Ducati 1199 Panigale Only thing is how long will I be allowed to sit on the bike, let alone ride her

There are still lots and lots of 04-06 parts rolling around .

10k could get an 07-09 used bike and mod it as well. And while I am partial to the R1, the reason I'd be buying it is strictly track work. Going fast in a straight line is very boring
