New Member With 2004 R1
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say hello, picked up my first r1 in august, i haven't had a chance to ride it yet but cant wait for the coming season. Bike is a Liquid Silver 04 R1 in beautiful condition. Now i have some questions, in looking to get my first suit but im not sure what size to go with, im looking to buy online to save some $$. Im 6"2 180lbs, hips at 37" and chest 37.9". Now im not sure if i measured right. I wear 32"x32" jeans and i measured the chest just under the arms. I was thinking a size 44?
Also what color should i go with, im really liking red and white but i dont know how it will look on the silver r1? I could also choose blue white, or black grey which i like the least from the images.

Congrats and welcome, sounds like you need at least a size 44, I'm 5'10 and weight about 160 and I wear a size 42 US, get ahold of Brad at Superbikesuply, he can get you a great prize on a bunch of different brands, he's also a vendor here http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/member.php?u=54022

Welcome!
Yeap, the ol "suit question"... I JUST went through this. What I found was:
1. Every suit fits a little different. So when at all possible, TRY IT ON before you buy it(or make sure you can return it)
2. I'm OCD about colors, so yes, my suit matches my bikes(but I painted my bikes myself) A bunch of guys run black because it goes with anything. So if you plan on selling the bike and changing bike colors, be prepared to mis-match. Suits usually outlast bikes. haha.
3. Don't pinch on quality. The suit WILL save your life.

I agree with all of the above. I would go with a black suit. I have the same bike in the same color. Now it is in the process of being repainted. I just went with a black suit because it matches anything. Maybe you can go into a store and try a suit on just for reference. Maybe it won't be exactly the same from company to company but it will give you a good starting point. Hope this helps.

Von Deutschland mit der gleichen maschiene^^
The Suit im looking at is not available anywhere here so i cannot test fit it unfortunately. So you guys think a size 46 US should fit me well? Im not fat, im tall and sort of skinny? Whats with the wale and hello kitty hairbrush haha?
Im not digging the silver/black at all, i dont know why maybe it looks better in person?? My Helmet is Blue, Red, White and Dark Chrome, came with the bike and fits me like a champ so i think im keeping it. Sorry for the horrible pics but they are the only ones i could find on the web.

I asked the Distributor, he told me a 44 should be what i need, its going to be to big in some spots he said but overall 44 would be the best fit. We'll see when its here!

 I agree...
Welcome aboard, let's see the bike.
Oh..and all those suits are horrible! Go to your nearest bike shop, try on a few brands, then go home and find a suit on the net. Sportsbike Track Gear are doing some mad specials on killer suits at the moment.

If you are going to wear a back protector under the suit, you will have to factor that in too. Otherwise, just wear it and let the leather stretch to fit. The suit will fit snug at first with the back protector on. Takes time to stretch.
