lost my job, sorta
so i've been working at this yamaha and kawasaki dealership which also sold used cars and clubcar golf carts, well a few months ago the owner decided to sell the company, ok, might be good, he was a bit of a douch bag, they also decided to drop yamaha. a** holes, that sucks, owning 2 yamahas myself. well the company got sold, new guys took over as of monday, biger and beter company has alot of other dealerships, mainly cars. they kept telling us befor hand that they wanted to keep the motor sports and go full tilt with kawasaki, and everything would be buisness as usual, well monday rolls around and they sit me down to talk about my job. first thing out of their mouths is they're shutting down the motor sports after they sell what product they still have. do i want to move over to automotive or marine. and what start another aprenticeship i have no interest in, hell no. now i'd have no problem getting another job right away. but i had a buddy txt me a few days befor, who is living in another province, he says i should move out there there is lots of work good pay and cheap housing. they tell me this news on monday, well mind made up i tell them i'll be done at the end of the month and i'll be moving to a small town in northern BC. i've always lived around edmonton alberta, born and rasied, this will be the first time moving away. i'm leaving with just my tools for the job and a suit case, leaving the kid behind with grandma and grandpa for six months to finish the school year and so i can get set up out there. well here goes nothing hope i can make it.
thanks for reading my little rant.

Screw it! Pack your s#it and roll out. I think it's a cool idea. My little brother did it when he was about 18 or 19. He moved from the UK all the way to Washington state. Needless to say, it didn't work out for him but at least he tried. You only go around once so make the best of it!

they offered you some kind of position in automotive or marine, and you said no.
never leave without a solid plan.
your plan isnt great.
i would re-think offer until you have another job lined up (an actual job, not a possibility of one)

Not like he is abandoning him. 6 months so the kid can finish school where he is...that sounds like dad is thinking about the kid and not just himself. If he was thinking about himself he would have packed the kid up mid year.

if i wanted to go to automotive or marine it would mean 4 more years of an apprenticeship, my two tickets that i have don't cover either of them. and as for a plan, i already have a place to stay and 4 or more job oppertunities which will double or more my income, housing market is way cheeper there than here and Edmonton has one of the highest murder rates in canada, i'd rather raise my son in a small town that a big city. i'm going to be living in one of the most beautifull places in canada why wouldn't move?

you have 4 opportunities, none of them are yours yet.
im not saying you wont get them, but you are not promised them.
id have done it differently if i were in your shoes.
ie stay on with business, even if its some bullshit part of the business, take a break of a week or so, go stay with the person you know, go to interviews, then you take the offer(s)

Either way, you have to make the decision that is going to work out for you and your family. It might not be easy to get the job you want or find the right place to stay but it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work out, you can always go back, right? Also, to want to leave a city with a huge crime rate is understandable.

Good luck bro, it may suck right now, but in the long run it may be one of the best things to happen to you....
