I agree going that fast and having an issue would be bad. Especially if you could have prevented the issue.

Most of mine spend extended times with the wheels sitting on the ground.

I'd like to get a couple stands, just haven't been able to yet. Priorities with a wife and kid. But my off days I spend working on my toys. I have done alot to my car so now the new hobby is the bike. Should be a good learning experience if nothing else. As far as cleaning the chain, I've been reading the big debate on WD40 and I don't see the reasons not to use it other than people's bias. For the most part, reasons for it have been alot more then against. Anybody else's input?

Talkin bout cleaning the chain and which is best is like talking about religion and which is best, everyone has there own favorite and swears by it. I personally use pb blaster to clean my chain followed by some chain lube all though I can't think of the brand at the moment

Yeah, I think that comes largely from the days of bias ply tires (my Vmax has them). Even at pressure they don't return to smooth, round profile for a while. So after it sits for a while it can be an interesting ride
With the radial tires, none of my other bikes have ever shown any significant signs of flat spotting, and some of them have sat for months on end. This year I hope to replace tires on everything at least once. If it's not raining and above 45, I'm planning to be on two wheels.

I don't know that I'd use PB Blaster on an O ring chain. But if it's working, good on you. I use almost exclusively WD 40 on all my chain driven bikes, and my chains have lasted longer than some people keep their bikes.
I think almost any regular cleaning and lubricant makes more of a difference than using some $80 lube once every oil change.

See just like religion haha yeah I use wd 40 as well but pb blaster works better to clean my chain in my opinion but I don't leave it on long before rinsing and spraying my lube on on it or wd 40 I just use it for cleaning not as a lube

Hey y'all, I've got some stands that I can let go. Bought the years ago from someone one the forum that made R1 specific stands. Very sturdy and in great shape. Rear is a spool set up and front is a fork stand. I'll get pics up tomorrow and if anyone is interested just make mean offer. I just don't need them anymore.

I don't know. What's a reasonable amount for a set of stands these days?

I have mine parked n a travel free standing wheel chalk on the dirt for now no were else to put it but in the dinning room and my roomate wasnt wanting to look all redneckish or I would be building an engine in there right now.
As for lubing the chain I got my oil changed every 2 months wasnt really worried about between oil changes
