The RC45 was about 94 and the RC51 was in 2000 even I believe.
They may be super expensive who knows, the question was......
When will any Japanese motorcycle maker...
.....finally dethrone the BMW S1000RR???
I just suggested that the Honda might be the bike.

Of the four Jap brands I think Kawi with the ZX10 is the best thing going right now. Kawasaki has really put some good thought into this bike. It would be my choice if I was in the market for a liter bike today.

Im guessing by dethrone you mean dethrone the paper specs and magazine reviewers?
1) S1K does look good.
2) oodles of power
3) "branded"
But what has it achieved professionally to be dethroned? Superstock?
Frankly I love Yamaha bikes. The principal of man and machine connection is something I like. Not just "machine" and not just "man". It has to be BOTH coming together. And thats yammie's philosophy.
2013 Oct should be the time we know whats happening with the triple. Yamaha is rejoining WSB in 2014 and am pretty sure they wouldnt be rejoining with old tech.
I've had my share of "dethroning" many a S1K at my local track. And all I have is decat, FT, PCV + AT, slip ons, quick shift and my right wrist.
I more enjoy the beautiful unique engine rumble. The amount of traction and stability in corners I have. The joy of having the "pig" running up there with the thoroughbred
I love my 2012 R1

, i'm sorry but maybe it aint that common for this kind of technology to appear stateside, but its called security my friend...
how do you think the immobilizer package works on R1s in Canada!? yeah you're right... its expensive for the owner to repair if some numb-nutts doesnt realize it before he tries to jack yer chit, but that's part of the deterrent as well!! whatever you're trying to rip off, is gonna cost the thief the same amount or more to get past.... and of course since he aint the owner, he will not have access to any of the pieces needed to get the system up n' running again... its by design!!.. and at least in Canada, where its mandatory brand new bikes have 'em, believe me.! it works!!

+1 anybody with a modern literbike would be wise to actually ride an s1krr for a good while before they automatically
decide to brand it king of the hill,... this, oodles of power, does not really show up until you're at track level rpms...
and its a rev happy engine,... it ends up feeling very 600ish out in the real world, and not nearly as much useable power as
on a crossplane R1... but it does look good on paper. woah.. 193 HP!! now thats impressive.!!
yup, you're right... that is a big number.... we all like big numbers...

Well. I like small numbers in track times
And frankly, even the professionals are intimidated by S1K. And riding "intimidated" doesnt mean much toe cos I wanna enjoy the machine.
I guess chasing numbers aint my thing. Chasing lap times is and well, being the "underdog" has perks. Not as fast, its expected. When faster than the S1K :, respect x10
