i've ridden my old man's 1300VTX in the twisties... gawd awful... could barely lean that thang before i was fartin' sparks...
imo, they're only worth it for longer trips, where you'll encounter days of flat desert roads...

Fvck a cruiser, what a POS motorcycle. Heavy, crap brakes (which is a safety issue IMO), little power, did I mention how heavy the POS's are?
If you want to get away from a sportbike why not buy a Standard? Yamaha makes them, FZ1, FZ6, Honda makes one. Hell even the Aprilia Tuono is bad ass. The latest gen has the RSV4, V4 motor, which is trick. I'd buy a Super Tenare before I bought a cruiser, much more versatile, and better brakes, and more reliable.

well i'd be selling it to the guy for 5 with the helmet, thats with all the old and new fairings and extra gas tank. then the donor cruiser for my bobber project is 3. so thats 2 stacks back into my emergency fund and i still get to ride.
save up some money and get a newer crossplane a year or 2 down the line.
thats where my head is at right now....ehhhh hmmmm

On the cruiser I don't have to go 90mph around a corner for it to be fun.

I dunno about that.. I seem to be able to touch on the street more easily than track, though I havnt been on the street for a while now

Again..for ME...lot's of guys touch knee on the street...I don't and I don't even come close. Last group ride I did the roads were damp and I was leaning WAY off the bike to keep it as upright as possible. When we came to a stop some of the guys commented how fast we were going....that's when I knew it was time to hang up the street. I may eventually have another sportbike for the street, but given the choice I personally would hop on the cruiser for a saturday ride than the R1.....for that I'll load it up and head to the track

I can see that actually... I do have to admit, i will probably need something a little more upright for local stuff,.. way to easy to get into serious trouble on the street.. and I need my license to make a living... i'm looking to pick up something a bit more upright.... get to look around a bit... but i just cant do a cruiser.... bones arent built for'em... dual sport on the other hand.!
