Every year for the past several years members of the R1 and R6 Forums have gotten together to run a trackday in memory of fallen Forum members. We are working to ensure the same holds true for 2010. Right now we are contracting for March 6 and 7, 2010 at Jennings GP in Florida.

A great location and track for the first trackday after the winter break, and a fantastic opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. The left turn dominant, 14 turn road course that is Jennings offers great traction with many technical areas that will challenge you all day long. A very safety conscious track that has ample run-off area and several areas for good passing at speeds up to 150+ MPH. But what makes this event unique is it's a trackday of predominantly friends. On track behavior is superb due to both the small group sizes we run, and the fact that most everyone knows one another. If you can only make one trackday in the coming year, this is the one to make!

Details: Please check the Jennings site for bike requirements and riders gear that they require.

The dates are March 6th & 7th. That's a Saturday and Sunday. We will be doing our own control riding during this event. For those of you that have not done a trackday, or very few trackdays, get ready for some great instruction!

Please bring fresh tires as there will not be a tire changer there. If someone wants to bring a tire changer we have no problems with that. You will need to bring food with you as we will not have the food wagon. We hope to have the gate open at 1400, that's 2 o'clock for you non military types, on Friday to let us in. The gates will close at 2200, 10 o'clock, every night. That is Jennings rule!! Other than that you can come and go as you please. Jennings does charge a $5 gate fee per person when you first arrive. They will give you an arm band to let you back in if you leave.

The price for all this fun is $150 one day and $250 for the weekend. We have to have the balance paid to Jennings by Dec 21st So the cut off for this will be December 15th! We need to stick to this cut off date. We are posting this up as early as possible so people can prepare. Camping is allowed at the track. That is what most folks do but there are local hotels for you all that do not like to camp. Please specify if you are running running 1 or both days!!! We have lowered the costs of this trackday slightly for two day attendees in hopes of having everyone plan for both days. A donation will be made as in the past, to a charity of our choosing in the name of our fallen R1-Forum and R6-Forum members.

Please send the money via paypal to ben@sofastsoclean.com Add 4% for PayPal fees. Once again the cut off for this is December 15th! Make sure you put your real and screen name in the comments section so we know who you are. If you don't have a PayPal account PM Goobr for his address.

Please sign-up in this thread and let me know what group you want to ride in. Novice, intermediate or advanced. We might have to change the groups around some depending on skill levels and the amount of riders in each group. The plan is to ride 20 minute sessions. We would like the cut off to be 20/25 riders per group but we might have to modify this depending on how many people sign up.

As far as safety goes this is a trackday and not a race! The control riders are there for every riders safety and to show the slower, novice riders the race line. If they see you riding unsafe they will pull you in and discuss the situation with you. Please remember that the control riders, corner workers have the final say on this. All of the control riders will be licensed racers or advanced level trackday junkies. In short we have some very talented riders on this board.

Update 12/20/09:
A little track weekend update ladies and germs.
We felt comfy enough to hire the tire guy to be there again on an albeit abbreviated schedule from last year. His schedule will be for 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours after lunch, both Saturday and Sunday. I'll get with the track owner next week to find out what exact times he'll be set up and the price he charges to change/balance tires. His price used to be $10 per rim, off the bike. He might have gone to 15 bucks now. I'll find out for sure next week. They are equipped with a very nice pneumatic tire changer and balance setup so no scratching of rims.

Please keep the chatter down in here as we need to keep up with the people who sign up. We have a PH, chat thread up and running in this section.

Post days you will attend, and group you wish to ride in.

Tapcon, we're discussing your question now. :thumbup
This was asked in the "Smack Talk" thread as well. Below is my response.
==============

We don't have a problem with you inviting your friends as long as:
1. You vouch that they're safe riders and not squids. We're all about safety my man. :fact

2. They have to be paid up by December 15, 2009 just like everybody else.

3. They understand this is an R1/R6 Memorial Track Weekend. The theme of the weekend is around our fallen brothers, riding fast, riding safe and having fun.

4. They read and understand the first post of this thread. http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273657

If you PayPal, don't forget the 4% additional fee. I overlooked it on a few folks last year because it was a PITA. I won't overlook it this year. If you don't include the 4% PayPal fee, depending on my mood, I'll either reject your payment or not mark you paid until you send the fee to me.

I don't mean to sound like an azzhole here but I'm responsible for everyone's bucks. It ends up being a lot of bucks so I'm kinda picky and keeping the spreadsheet up. :fact :)

L8r,
Goob

IOW's, if you know your peeps are on the up and up, cool! Welcome! :)

Me +1, Both days, both Novice.
Sad but true if I don't get any track time in between when I get home at the end of October and then, it will be my first track day. My girlfriend, my +1, has at least 2 or 3 under her belt... She was at Jennings this past weekend, but alas her bike is totalled since she got hit by a car and she went to take photos for friends. Either way, look forward to seeing you all there.

Got you for two spots, Phil. If you girlfriend has a screen name or a nick name, PM it to me or post it so we don't have your name for two spots. We don't want to confuse anyone when the spots fill up, because they will with this track day :flex:

If the group has room, yessir, you betcha.

#20 ·
Is it possible to rent a bike to participate on these trackdays? Since this is happening every year I can probably plan to participate someday... How much for this rent?

#22 ·
I know there are some places you can rent bikes from...where they are I have know Idea.

#25 ·
Gotcha covered Travis.

#26 ·
Looking good guys!!! 23 riders so far! Keep telling people!

#28 ·
Bumpski!!! :D
The list is up to date as far as I can tell. Uno, Ashely, are y'all riding both days or just one?

#30 ·
I gotcha....no problem.

#33 ·
Welcome to the forum. Won't be a better place outside the convention to meet a good number of our members!

#38 ·
What class and which days would you like to sign up for?

#39 ·
Bump...lets get some more folks signed up for this!

I'm going try like hell to make it, but at this point I can't commit for sure. All of my helmets were destroyed when my house flooded :( really bumbed about loosing my new Arai. hopefully a spot will be open around the middle of november, by then I should have a better idea of my situation.

If all you need is a helmet, don't sweat it, I have 2 spare ones and I'm pretty sure there are other guys who will have you covered.

Didn't realize you got flooded, hope you are dried out and OK now.

Good question and thanks for asking. You can send it anytime you like as long as I have all the funds by December 15, 2009. It would be nice if folks would start sending payment as it makes us "not" so nervous. :lol We're committed to pay JenningsGP by December 21, 2009.

I have a dedicated PayPal account set up solely for the track weekend so my keeping up with it is no problem whatsoever. That PayPal address is ben@sofastsoclean.com Also, if one doesn't want to do the PayPal thing and would rather send a MO or check, PM me for my snail mail address.

To all: Please remember that a couple of members have already put up the $500.00 "non-refundable" deposit. :thumbup

I'm ready!!! :jump
