I put my Dog to sleep on Saturday. RIP Spark.

I took Spark to the vet early Saturday morning and we said our goodbyes. It was by far the hardest thing I’ve had to do. I know that he is in a much better place right now, free from pain & discomfort. I’m sure he’s chasing squirrels from sun up to sun down. That was his favorite past time! It sounds odd, but after seeing him relax and gently pass away, I felt a sense of relief come over me. I actually felt OK with it and deep down in my heart I know that I did the right thing. I don’t feel any guilt at all. Sadness, that ‘s another story. I’ll miss him dearly, but I loved him enough to recognize when he needed me the most. I’m glad I was there for him, just like he was always there for me. Take care pal. Spark, 1991-2004. RIP.

Damn bro, that sucks. I've been there a few times. It never is an easy decision or thing to cope with. Keep the chin up dude, perhaps someday you will have another when you are ready.

that's so tough...pets become so much more than just "pets". They're family. Sorry for your loss bro.

My heart goes out to ya. Hardest thing I've ever done. That's why I try to enjoy the time I have with my current dog to the fullest!!! But I still miss and will always think fondly of the previous.

It's now been about 3 weeks since my family had to put our dog to sleep. I know how your feeling... At lease our dogs are up there together talking about motorcycles right now.

That really sucks man. I feel for you. I got 2 pups (1 is 1 1/2 years the other 9 weeks), I'd hate to have to go through that. I am dreading the day. Especially with the older one, he's definitely my bud. Take it easy.

I remember as a teenager taking our yellow lab to be put down..It was so hard. She was a total member of our family....People that don't own dogs don't understand that it is like losing a family member..Hang in there..The best thing is to maybe get a new puppie..It helps heal the heart and gives it something new to love..Spark can't be replaced but you can help heal your heart by start loving a new puppie..

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys, I appreciate it very much. I know deep down in my heart that I did the right thing. It's still hard to let go since he's been with me through an awful lot over the years. Nothing will take away my memories though.

Thanks again everyone,
Scott
