FlashTune ECU Flashing Interface

I got the type 1 ECU flashing interface from Flashtune today.

Here are the tuneable features for the 07-08 R1:
-Fuel table bias (ECU uses a MAP vs RPM and a TPS vs RPM table for fueling, the bias adjusts how much each table contributes to the final value used to control the injectors.)
-TPS vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-MAP vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-TPS vs RPM Ignition map (per gear)
-Engine braking
-YCCT APS vs RPM throttle maps (not directly edittable, can choose between two preset maps: stock and "race")
-Fan temps (stock or 205*F on, 195*F off)
-Immobilizer Operation (Normal or Bypassed)
-Yes, you can import .djm PCIII maps into the software, the software then scales the fuel maps for flashing the ECU just like the PCIII does.

Flashtune does claim to be actively expanding the software to allow for other adjustments as well.

I flashed my ECU with the "race" YCCT map and used the 6th gear ignition map for all gears. My bike does now idle around 1900 RPMs. After looking at the "race" YCCT map closer I believe it may be to blame. Aside from the high idle everything worked great. I went out for a quick ride and was able to power up 2nd gear sit-down wheelies, I tried hard before but it never happened. The bike does feel like it has a little extra pep.

Here are a couple of screenshots of the YCCT maps and the 1st and 6th gear ignition maps.

Not sure yet....I just got back from my trip...so I will have to play with it more to try and figure it out.

It only happens with the clutch in and in gear?...As mine clearly doesn't do that, I will have to try and come up with a setting that does do that on my bike first...

Slightly off-topic guys but who here is using the stock air filter?

I've been running the GYTR since I unboxed the bike but checking/cleaning filter today after only 5,000km I've noticed that it's not filtering as well as it should.

Thinking of putting my unused stock air filter back in.
Word on the street is the stock one flows best anyway. :dunno
Can anyone confirm??

I have been using the OEM one. I take it out each year and reverse blow it out every winter.....

Not sure on the flow claim....K&N always makes the argument that it flows better....:dunno

A measure of air flow into and out of an engine (CFM = CID x RPM x VE ÷ 3456).

Meaning...our motors roughly flow around 240-250 cfm at max rated rpm so the K&N filter will produce more hp as shown in the test data provided. :fact (Resistance To Flow)

I'm happy with the filtration numbers of the K&N and keep mine clean and oiled.

I will check this when I get home

So here is a question...did you disable your O2 sensor when you had the surging? Mine it's on...so if the fuel map is off slightly in the idle area that
could cause the idle to surge. Mine is using the OEM O2 sensor in closed loop there so maybe that is why it is more stable than yours...:dunno

Any response to your ticket Tad?
Just that he is looking into it.

Do you still have the OEM O2 sensor plugged in?...Because I have mine turned on and did not have the surging. If you still have yours, can you plug it in and enable it and see if the surging stops?

Ah! Ok let me try disabling my O2 sensor and see if that surging shows up. If so I think it is a fuel map issue, and we can fix that

I'm not sure if the 09+ is the same, but on the 07-08, removing the O2 sensor caused idle surging. I speculate this is due to the ECU not using the MAP sensor fuel map when the O2 is disconnected/disabled. At such low throttle angles and engine speeds, the MAP sensor will offer much greater resolution allowing for much finer fuel control.

:thumbup...I will see what F-T has to say...
