FlashTune ECU Flashing Interface

I got the type 1 ECU flashing interface from Flashtune today.

Here are the tuneable features for the 07-08 R1:
-Fuel table bias (ECU uses a MAP vs RPM and a TPS vs RPM table for fueling, the bias adjusts how much each table contributes to the final value used to control the injectors.)
-TPS vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-MAP vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-TPS vs RPM Ignition map (per gear)
-Engine braking
-YCCT APS vs RPM throttle maps (not directly edittable, can choose between two preset maps: stock and "race")
-Fan temps (stock or 205*F on, 195*F off)
-Immobilizer Operation (Normal or Bypassed)
-Yes, you can import .djm PCIII maps into the software, the software then scales the fuel maps for flashing the ECU just like the PCIII does.

Flashtune does claim to be actively expanding the software to allow for other adjustments as well.

I flashed my ECU with the "race" YCCT map and used the 6th gear ignition map for all gears. My bike does now idle around 1900 RPMs. After looking at the "race" YCCT map closer I believe it may be to blame. Aside from the high idle everything worked great. I went out for a quick ride and was able to power up 2nd gear sit-down wheelies, I tried hard before but it never happened. The bike does feel like it has a little extra pep.

Here are a couple of screenshots of the YCCT maps and the 1st and 6th gear ignition maps.

I've done a bit of messing around with my 2015. I've really found that the Graves flash image is the only one that gets rid of the lean/hesitation between 4 and 5k at part throttle. It's also gives better fuel economy...Too bad you can't adjust anything in the Graves image. I'd really like to use the throttle map I developed.

My only mod is a two brothers cat eliminator so your results might be different.

cannuck do you have the old style cables? if so contact FT they may give you a set of new cables which would come with a license for the first ECU and account it is hooked to

#11,819 ·
you're still able to flash with the old cables? i thought there was some huge conspiracy about once you update to the new software it basically fried the old cables and rendered them useless. but if you're still using the old software then it shouldnt be an issue

That is not the right link....it dropped me into a post by petrol in 2002.....

The one in the map share in the F-T software is the newest one. I have been doing track days collecting data. I might push out an update in about a month or two, but otherwise I am pretty happy with how it is running...

I have been looking through your map and I noticed that you have "Disable O2 Sensor" set to "FALSE". Per the recommendation in the Flash-Tune FAQ, I currently have no O2 sensor installed in my exhaust. In this case, should I set "Disable O2 Sensor" to "TRUE"?

Also, do you have a quickshifter, Tad? I do not have a quickshifter so should I deactivate QSv1.0?

I hope I'm not asking too many questions, but why did you adjust the speedometer to 94%?

Thanks.

hey Tad. i have a buddy interested in me flashing his ECU. how do i get a single license? I seen the 3 packs on FT site. do i just hook his ECU up and it prompts automaticcaly to purchase one? Do you recall the cost of just 1 license? last i heard it was around 100

Yes and yes....that is how it works to the best of my knowledge

I might be able to answer a couple of those...

You can have the QS active without the sensor installed, it doesn't affect anything, that's how mine is now with no issues.

94% is to account for the ~6% off that the speedometer comes from the factory. I found mine was closer to 5% off so I've set mine at 95%.

I'm running my stock O2 sensor and have no issues with it enabled. I'm not sure if the FAQ reference pertains to older FTE software, just know it works fine with mine enabled with the current software.

Tad can correct me if I'm wrong.

No expert is correct. If you do not have an O2 sensor installed, you should disable it.

Hey guys, are any of you in Vancouver BC?

I have an 09 and apparently after talking to Nels, my bike has the first flash he did with the flash tune. That being said, looks like you guys have improved the map quite a lot (and even Nels said that I should change the flash as many things have changed).

If anyone is close to me and would be willing to flash my bike, please shoot me a PM.

I'm getting envious after reading how much better the bike runs and starts right away, etc. Lol (whereas I have to feather the throttle on cold starts for 3-5 attempts to even get it to start...)

I dont know if it happen to anyone else , but I tried flashing TAD map and I was unable to start the bike , only firing and Err_1 on the dash . The only thing I changed in the map , was to enable 02 sensor and Start in A mode. My bike is the EU version 2012 . I took the right map..

I had to flash back my old map and then it started. I tried to flash it back to stock ECU and for unknown reason it was only firing... If you guys can tell me what I did wrong again . Thank!

Has anyone else used the EU image?

#11,835 ·
Did you set the right option on the wiring harness for the EU bike?

#11,838 · (Edited)
Finally , I got it . In the flashtune manager if I download the EU version I can't see the US harness config and I think that's why I was unable to flash it. But when I download the US version there was the option us harness config ,I set it to false and it worked .

Btw after the flash my idle is bouncing at 1000rpm and sound like it's about to stop . I leaved the extend warmup idle to TRUE is that right ?

Everything else is working fine , I supose it's normal when I release the throttle that the bike keep going ? There's almost no engine braking. Thank Carl !

Ok, so you needed to run the US image, with the harness set to false, because you pulled the imobilizer.

How bad was the idle bouncing? You could add one to the last few columns in the idle table if you want it to idle a bit faster. Did it ever stall? How many miles do you have on the spark plugs?

Did you have a throttle hang condition or you just were making a comment about how good/little the engine braking feels now?

Hello All, I'm new to the Forum and just got a 2014 R1. This question is actually for Tad as I have the FT ecu bench kit and saw your shared programs on the FT site. I currently just have 3/4 graves titanium exhaust and Im planning on doing the airbox mod. Right now I am using the flash tunes unrestricted file but wasnt sure if yours would be a better fit for my bike. I live in Delaware so environment conditions should be close to yours. Also does your shared file have fuel/ignition maps? Thank you

#11,840 · (Edited)
All the required timing, fuel, throttle and idle changes have already been made for a 3/4 system. It should be pretty good, but may benefit from some fuel tweaks to match your engine.

#11,844 ·
It says right in the image notes that it is set up for a 3/4 exhaust and what not. Read the image notes section.

FT Problem

So I got my FT interface flash yesterday. I removed my ECU followed the instructions and flashed my ECU 12 R1 mid and slip on. I go to put the ECU back on the bike and I get a fault code 17....:icon_eek: I tried to reset power on the bike but fault 17 was still there. I tried to clear history on the ECU but fault 17 is still there. Funny thing is there is no fault 17 listed in the service manual??? WTF?? SO I take ECU back out and decide to flash it again thinking something got corrupted. Flashed it np. Put it back in and get a fault 17 again..... Bike starts and runs fine but the CE is on and mad annoying. Is there anything I can do?
