Here it is boys! The "official" information thread for those who will attend the East Coast Convention at Deal's Gap.

318 turns in 11 miles! What more can you ask for?
When/If you make reservations the will not be able to give you a room number so we need to ask to be put on the 1st floor so we can be relativelly in the same area of the hotel.
The hotel has a breakfast bar but it is nothing more than some orange juice, toast, small bagles and some cereal. There is a pizza joint not too far down the road and a Popey's Chicken right next door.
There is also a grocery store down the street that has plenty of food and beer!
The parking is kinda shitty so if you are taking a trailer (like I am) you may want to park it by the ATM machine that is in the parking lot (you cant miss it)
Microtell does have discounts if you are in the military or have AAA so make sure that you ask. If we get enough people with reservations, I will call them again and try to get us all a group discount.
I am going to try and update this as new things happen and I want to keep the list of people that are going as up to date as I can too so please PM me with any changes or anything you think I should add to it.

Things just keep getting better and better!
I am in the process of contacting companies to see if I can get you guys free stuff that will be given away Saturday evening at the hotel confrence room.

UPDATE 11-19-02 : Here we go! Who said they wanted discounts? Well, we got one!
Call the hotel at 828-479-6772 and tell them that you are with the group "R1 Forum"
If you allready have reservations, call them and let them know that you are part of the group and they will add your name to the list. Once we have 10 rooms (or more) they will give us a 10% discount on the rooms! Wohoo!

UPDATE 12-5-02 I just got off the phone with the hotel and they are going to talk to the bank accross the street from them to see if we can use the parkinglot on the weekend to park trucks and trailers.

UPDATE 12-5-02 I just called them again and reserved the meeting room for us from 6-10PM on Saturday the 17th so we can have an official meet and greet and take some pictures.

UPDATE 12-8-02 I finally got the decals I was getting made in. Pictures and info in page 6.

UPDATE 12-18-02 As you can see, we now have goodies to give away at the convention!

UPDATE 5-6-03 Well, the time is almost here! I just got off the phone with the hotel and if you have not made reservations then looks like you are out of luck. The entire hotel is booked for Friday and Saturday. They are allowing us to use the parkinglot next to the bank that is accross the street from the hotel and they told me that if you come with a trailer they will help you find a place for it.
I also reserved the meeting room for the entire day Saturday so we can use it for what ever we want and bring some cash with you so we can order bunch of pizza for alittle meet-n-greet in the evening...

This looks AWESOME....one question comes to mind, do you get IDIOTS riding thru alot? like passing on blind curves, etc.

A question just popped into mind. Is anyone bringing a female to ride with. My girl has been up and down it a few times and wants to go. But if no others are going then she is staying at home too. Either way I am going for sure.

Shadow, have you asked or can we find out approx. how many people we'll need to make resv. in order to get some kind of discount?

Me personally............. Im single but if the opportunity is there I will bring a female friend! No Problem. I can only ride (the bike) so much and im sure there are other things to do!

Question everyone: I travel ALOT on business and also to different motorcycle events. I must say $54.00 p/night for a SUITE (let alone a room) is the cheapest I've ever spent! What type of discount do we really expect?

Well, you have the ocassinal asshole but they are far and few between. I am willing to say that 99.9% of the people that go there are A OK

Dont forget to let them know that you are with the R1 Forum when you call to make reservations. It may be even better to call the hotel dirrectly vice using the toll free number

I'm working on getting off at that time but I will have to see what I can do. I need to lineup coverage while I am gone. I would love to see all you and ride the gap but what else will we be doing?
