That ColdHeat Soldering Tool
Does it work?? If it's as good as they say it would be PERFECT for us bikers to use on our bikes.

Let us know how these work. I've been an Electronic Tech for about 6 years now and the only irons I like using are Metcal. They can be expensive for people that don't really solder a lot, and there aren't many good options out there if you're not willing to spend much.

Looks good, but you can't use it on circuit boards. It's mostly just for wired connections. It is like a mini spot-welder & might damage IC's. But for $20 might be useful.
Metcal's are awesome.. and also $800!
If you have a UPS battery backup for your computer, you can haul it outside & use it to power your soldering iron - it's come in handy when I've worked on my car & didn't want to run an extension cord.
There are also some cheap butane powered ones but I haven't tried them.

Yes, excellent tip with the UPS. Some of us live in apartments where there is no electrical socket nearby our stalls. thx for the soldering tip (pun intended).
