When one of my bikes got hit by a car the shop checked frame straightness by rolling through a puddle of water to see if it tracked straight, but then again

It was a factory honda shop that did that. Pretty low tech.

yo his fault, his insurance is going to pay for damages and estimates. Keep receipts. But I'd try to get a total out of it and buy a new bike. Trust me it doesn't take much to bend a freame and swing arm.

First
Second, his problem not yours. He needs to be responsible whether he has insurance or not is his problem.

Drag his ass to court...

Ride the bike, check if its pulling on a side (it would require a steady push on a clipon to keep it in a straight line).

They are not that easy to bend (contrary to opinions)...beleive me.

Not a good idea right now as the riding stance they"d need to adopt will put pressure on the clipons, ruining the desired effect needed for the test.

Ok, first get your story straight. He pulled out in front of you, you tried swerve out of the way, the driver made no effort to move back to his original lane and hit you. Completely 100% his fault. He may not have insurance but you can take him to court. If you win have the court garnish his wages to help recuperate your losses. Don't even feel sorry for the bastard. Look at this way he tried to kill you and you got lucky.

yeah but i was speeding too...it was late no cars were out really and my buddies and i were moving along. no tickets issued except for no insurance. so they cant tell who's light was green. but there was a good sized skid mark from me locking up the rear.

once all the smoke clears i don't look so innocent either.

You made the effort to avoid the accident. The other driver did not. Remember you're not trying to prove him criminally negligent. Your taking him to civil court and rules are little different and a little more lenient for you to prove your case. Either way go after the bastard. You did nothing wrong, you made every attempt to avoid the retard.

thats sux, if you need any help with the bike pm me i am not too far from you. are the forks toast? what i get is the bike hit the car backwards, right? i would bet the frame is ok unless you were goin 100mph, the frame seem to bend if you hit something hard with the front, not to say it couldnt be done but its probably fine, the 99 r1 frame i have was looped hard and fast and other than a trashed sub its fine.

Check you wheel alighnment with a straightedge. As a rule of thumb if the forks are bent then the chassis probably is cos R1 forks are very strong !!
