It's for more accurate tuning. I couldn't care less about saving a few pounds.

if its weight saving or for a more accurate tune.
ive done my bike and a mates, and none of them broke off, and not even bent.
just take your time and twist then around for a couple minutes before you start to pull them out. and use plenty of penatrating oil.

Some rubber caps would probably work alright. There's rubber hoses that run directly beside the engine and they survive...
I'm not too worried about keeping an extra pound or two on my bike--I'm more concerned about one of these things breaking and me not being able to get it out.

Thanks for the response, but believe me... I'm no welder, and that doesn't sound that appealing to me.

I also broke one off and I used a screw extractor to take them all out in about 5 minutes tops. A little bit of WD40 is all you need. I hit them with a little bit of WD40 broke them all off and took them all out with the screw extractor in like I said 5 min tops. It work so good when I did my bud's bike it only took me about 40min's from start to finish.

I'm still thinking about whether this mod is worth it or not. If I attempt it I think I'll use a mini torch I have to heat the ports up and then try pulling them out.

I did the block offs, slide stops, ram air and the v stacks. Thought my bike was going to run like shat until I got a new map, but to my surprise it runs great. I dont feel pressed to get a custom map like I thought I was going to be.
