Right on. The map I have was a custom map for my type of exhaust but he also had Vstacks. My bike runs a little on the lean side.

I just removed my AIS system and I used a allen wrence that fits inside the elbow and moved it back and forth a couple of times, used more WD-40 and used another little prybar on the underside of the elbow while moving it back and forth. This method works best and it's really quick. All of them came out without problems. Hope this helps others.

After examining my bike I've noticed there's rubber tubing going from the "L plugs" to the AIS, and there's tons of rubber connectors and tubing under the tank, which is right above the engine, and they withstand the high temperatures. I like the idea of just leaving the "L plugs" intact because that way if I ever need to reinstall the AIS for any reason I can, and also because there's no chance of breaking the "L plugs" in the head during removal.
I just need to find something that works to block the "L Plugs." Does anyone have any more ideas?

As long as you remove the radiator, the job is a piece of cake. I used a little high temp sealer around the Graves block offs, then tapped them in with a rubber mallet(so i didn't accidentally hit anything like the fork tubes with a metal hammer) and a long flat punch. As easy as 1...2...3.
And yes i did remove the whole smog unit. I put it in a box with all of the other stock parts i take off of her.
No more popping when i let of of the throttle or down shift, just a mean rumble.
Here are some pic's what they look like installed:

The problem for me is I don't want to remove the L shaped plugs that are already in there; I just want to block em with something. Never know when I might have to put the AIS back on.

You can always put the smog unit back on your bike. As for the L shaped plugs.....go to your local Yamaha dealer and order them when you decide to put them back in.
Do you still have the tractor trailer sized mud flap rear fender too?

It would be hard to pull the smog block offs out of the engine head, wouldn't it?
The mud flap has been cut in half to make it smaller! Cops around here don't like it if you don't have a light on the license plate, so I've made it look as best I can.

I was a little concerned with extracting them at first also. I read about a couple of guys snapping them off. So i decided to take as much off as possible, that made my experience so easy. I used a pair of plyers and twisted back and forth like a clock, 10:00 to 2:00 twist using penitrating oil. As i was twisting back and forth i was also pulling out on it.
Stop worrying and get to work............

No, I mean I want to leave the stock "L plugs" in there, just block them somehow. If I were to remove the L plugs and put in the smog block-offs from Graves, it would be impossible to put the AIS back on if I ever need to.
I'd really just like to block the damned L plugs some how. Don't care too much about the weight savings of removing the whole AIS unit.
Thanks for your response.

if you dont care about the weight savings then just unplug the electrical connector going to the AIS box and cap the line that goes to the airbox. thats how mine was when i got it

Nope, never did find a way. It's not a huge concern for me to block the AIS right now because dynoing my bike isn't in my budget this summer. I can live with popping, I suppose.
It still would be nice though if someone could/can find a way to leave the L plugs in and just block it that way.
Your idea sounds like it would work. Let me know if you end up going through with it.

Your rubber caps will melt. Keep in mind, it's hot exhaust from the head.
