R1 kickstand QUESTION

I have a '05 r1 and wanting a chrome kickstand, but the only one that I could find was an '03 kickstand that was chrome. Does anyone know if both kickstands are comparable and fit on each years bike?

Help please...my bike has dropped because I need a new kickstand and I'm trying to replace it asap.

Prec'

I believe the 04-06 models have a forged aluminum kickstand. You could sand down a stock one and polish it. All prior models have steel kickstands and would need to be chrome plated.

But does the '03 kickstand fit on a '05 bike?

I can't speak for the 2002-2003 models but the 2000-2001 model is interchangeable with the 2004-2006. Its a kickstand...how complex can it be?

I have a 2003 kickstand on my 2004. It DOES fit fine, however the 2002-2003 kickstand is about 1/2" longer then the 2004-2006 kickstand, and is also steel vs. the 2004's aluminum.

The reason I put on the 2003 kickstand is because I mounted a 190/60 rear tire and the bike would lean over ALOT when on the shorter 2004 kickstand. With the 2003 kickstand it leaned over properly.

I think if you tried to mount a 2003 on yours, with a stock size rear tire, it wouldn't lean over enough, because of the extra length.. It might be ok though, So if I were you I would get one and try it out. They are interchangeable. Look on ebay the most you'de be out is a few bucks...

I'm interested in swapping an 01 kickstand for an 04/05 if anyone is interested. Here's the one I have.. straight and in great shape.
