Sqeaky Brakes
I just put on some new front Galfer front brakes on my 05 R1. Is there something I can put on them to make them quit sqeaking?

Yep, did not know you had to do anything to rotors? Do you have to take them off and have them turned like a car?

Grease them....hee hee hee, just kidding! You might want to rub the pads together a few time as well as they might have "glazed" a little if you've been riding it a lot!

No brake cleaner..... You need to sand down the rotors. Depending on the compound you got. A semi metallic compound will not bite through a OEM or sintered metallic compound. Thus, giving you funny sounds from the front end. Some 400-600 Grit wetsand paper, soap and water, will get things going in the right direction (circle sand on both sides of the discs). Brake cleaner is only used for bare calipers and graffiti removal.

I bought semi metallic pads for my bike and noticed the same thing. They would squeak quite a bit. I didn't even know I would have to prep the rotors. But the squeaking finally stopped. I think they are good and broken in now. So if you are patient enough the squeaking should go away.
