Oil pressure issues

I have a 2000 R1 with 28000 miles that I'm having a problem with. I keep blowing the seals on oil filters. I have tried 3 diffrent kinds of oil filters including oem, Amsoil, and Pure One. I don't have any smoke comming from the bike at idle or when at high rpm so I don't think that it is a ring issue but you never know. Anyone have any sugestions on what it might be? I'm trying to avoid tearing the engine apart trying to figure out what is going. Any sugestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have read 2-3 similar posts to yours over the same number of months. There have been several plausible suggestions to the cause, but I don't recall anyone returning with a definitive answer.

Found one thread:

Make sure when tightening a filter(by hand) that there is a nice progressive feel to it. One time on my '04, I had a filter spin on nicely but stopped too abruptly. Turned out the gasket was thinner than the last filter(same brand) and the filter bottomed out on the threaded stud.

Good luck.

post up what you find out.

There is an oil pressure reliefe valve in the oil pan. When the pressure gets too high it is made to let the higher pressure bleed off.

My guess is you have two seperate problems. One the valve is not working to release the pressure, two and worse there is an oil blockage somewhere which is causing the high oil pressure.

Please keep us posted with what you find.
