Newer R1 wheel fitments

Can anyone shed any light on this for me,

I have a '99 R1 and was wondering if the slimmer, lighter weight wheels off the latter models would fit straight on?

Cheers

Hi, from another UK member.

Can't answer the question but there are lots of people who can.

Try posting again in the Mechanical/Help rather than this '98 backwater that doesn't seem to well read.

pretty sure they wont, i know for 02 03 models to fit 04 newer rims they need the 04 forks and all that stuff...so i would assume you would need whatever yr rim ur looking at and all thier forks and stuff....im sure other guys will chime in and clear it up,or try a search......

the rear wheel will fit right on, the front whell will work also but you have to use the rotors from the 03-04 r6 and 1/8 thick washers between the calipers and the forks for the calipers to line up.
