I have done 2 of them, each without instructions, and eachtime I came up with a different way to support the upper portion of the tail. There are some good ideas if you run a search. Also rather than just using the plastic plugs, to hold the undertail to the upper tail, I have used bolts and light bolts. It is a pain in the ass but the results are worth it.

The best way I can describe it, is to cut a little and then test fit, cut a little more and then test fit etc. I took some camera pics and I am e-mailing them to myself now I will post them I have them all.

Ok sorry for the pic quality but hopefully this can help you. These pics show a pipe clamp used to support the upper tail, a light bolt used to support the undertail on one application, and a regular bolt and nut to support another undertail. Hopefully it will give you a general idea.

yah that will help when i need to keep it all in place... but after reading around... im looking to find out more about exactly what i need to cut off the bottom of the black plastic.... all the directions i have been finding arent really helping me understand.... they say i need to cut off some of it and then relocate it so its mounted about 3/4 of an inch higher... does this make sense and do u have any pictures of what the cut OEM undertail looks like ?

The only thing i can think of is that you basically cut off the rear of the OEM under tail, and push the entire remains up about 3/4 of an inch. This is why you lose most of the truck space. I then drilled new holes in the side of the oem plastic section where it bolts into the sub frame to hold the trunk part up. This supports the trunk part, but now that the lights and new undertail are not supported I did not like the using the plastic pins only so I used what was pictured.

Yes that is basically what you are going to take out, It is a good guideline but I have never been able to take it out as one piece.
