Rear tire question
i bought my bike a little over a month ago and just love it. the previous owner put a 180 tire on the rear for some reason. One of two reasons i could think of. the 190 tire is like 30 bucks more and he was really tight with money or the 180 handles a hell of a lot better??? after this tires done what size should i go with? and is it possible to fit a 200 in the swingarm??? i would love to shove a 200 in there lol. thanks guys

Bike manufacturers and tyre manufacturers spend a lot of time and money working on stability and performance. I know some people will say that a 180 rear will help you turn the bike quicker, but also say let about 8psi out as well. well in my experience and i've been riding for some years. A 190 tyre correctly inflated will turn an 02 R1 quite sufficiently. I have no bother getting my knee on the ground without hanging off like an idiot, i have no bother keeping up with other bikes and turnig quickly and my R1 feels proper stable and planted. No steering damper fitted or neccessary.
Spend your time on worryning about the suspension and fit some good sticky rubber standard sizes ( i reccomend Ractecs k3)
But then again thats just my opinion !!!!!!

powers yes dunplops NO DEFINATELY NOT. especially untill they have had a good few miles into them and are completely warm. I had a big off on 208rr qualifiers and although it was my fault i thought the tyre could of held on.
Trust me metzeler racetec k3 are the way to go. i dont do track days anymore just fast road riding and have some fantastic footage of knee down action on them. got tonnes of confidence in them...

200's suk unless they are race slicks in a 65 or 70 series, the 180 turns in better if thats wat you want , i ride with a disability so i need a 180......spend your money on suspension, ive had my r1 for 2 years and wasted alot of money on bullshit, the best money spent it is 2600.00 i spent on the slipper clutch, scotts damper, and front and rear suspension, its like a completely different bike when the suspension is setup properly and for you... suspension is where its a bro

Go with the pilot powers in a 190/55 the extra hight in profile will keep it turning in like the 180/55 you have on it but also add stability and a larger foot print.

there is no pilot power or 2ct in a 190 55 unless michelin got off their asses and delivered 2ct's in 190/55
and a power race on the street would not be a really good idea,
however pirelli does make the corsa III in a 190 55,
but with any 190/55 dont forget that its gonna increase your rake and it will turn in a crapload faster and it will be alot more prone to headshake, depending on how much taller the tire is

Go with Pirelli then 190/55 is the way to go, measure front and rear ride hight and make ajustments after the new tires are mounted. Do this even if you get a standard 190/50, profile can change geometry also.
