Opinions on 03 Dodge Durango's, looking to buy used

Anyone have any opinions on Dodge durango's? Sabrina is looking for a newer vehicle and we found one she really likes.

It's an 03 with the big gas guzzling V8 in it. Are they generally problematic, or pretty trouble free vehicles? It has 75,000 miles on it, and 3 rows of seating IT's HUGE


Any opinions???? Thanks!

Before I purchased my full size RAM, I had a Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7L V8 and never had a problem and I drove it like stole it......

I will say this, I averaged about 16 mpg and that's only because I've got a lead food.....

Have it checked out by a tech of your choice before u buy, and make sure it had all scheduled maintiance.

Problems and no resale value. Find yourself a Toyota Sequoia, even if it has 3 times that milage, it will be much more reliable and will give a better ride.

Yeah I figured it would suck the gas anyway. I thought about taking it to a mechanic for a check-up before we buy.

Speaking of Toyota, you seen that Toyota has been on top of the Dekra/tüv reliability and customer satisfaction survey's for a while now. But this year they are on the edge of losing that title to Subaru. Must say I'm impressed by that. Subaru must have learned alot from working with Toyota, and have found a way of improving even more.

I always found it funny people bash insert american car brand for being unreliable, especially Dodge. Most people who bash Dodge trucks have never owned one but they heard from a guy...

I've have owned 00' 5.2 V8 SLT Durango and it was an awesome truck with no problems.Got about 15 -16 mpg I believe.
I have also owned a Toyota 4runner for a short period of time and it was average and had it's share of problems.

The only issue I see is that it's used and without knowing anything about the condition of the truck it could be a gamble.

Yeah I personally hate buying used vehicle's for that reason. The previous owner could have held it at the rev-limiter for 20 min or something I know all used vehicles have thier problems, it's just when will they show up. 90% of people don't get rid of a vehicle cause it's perfect there is something wrong with them all, it's just finding it!

I have one

I have a 2003 Durango Slt. I put a cold air intake and a magnaflow exhaust. Stock everything else, that thing is a pig for gas but man it goes like hell. The stock sound system is pretty decent, could use a little more low end for my personal taste.

My wife and I are 23 and we bought it thinking down the road a ways that it will be a great/safe vehicle to haul a baby or two around. We looked at all sorts of cars and trucks. We decided on the SUV idea because it still has the power to tow our toys aswell as having room to go out with friends and all be in the same car.

Its a smooth ride compared to other dakota pick-ups I have driven, and its great to travel. Just be prepared for the gas bill

A 2003 can "toe" between 5,000 - 7,000 pounds . I need mo' info.

You could always put in the vin# at Dodge.com or look in the glove compartment.

bummer

unfortunatly the sticker on my tow package is pealed off so i don't know the tongue rating or towing capacity. i know that it did just fine with 2 dirt bikes on a steel trailer. I have tried to find out the capacity before but never got a solid answer, I'll see if I can find it for you.
