Bike Stolen while on Vacation........
Just last night my boys 07 R1 was stolen from a hotel in Miami last night. He had it locked up right in front of his room. He had just put a Akra Hex Carbon Fiber full system on it and a PC...... Please let me know if any of you guys see anything on ebay or around town.
Thanks for any help.......

Heres the story my boy wrote.......
I’m on vacation here in Miami florida “Weston area” in a prestigious resort where celebrities are my neighbors. Staying at a nice private and what seemed to be a secured resort. When a first pulled in, I was happy to see a police car patrolling the vicinity and what is supposed to be a 24hr resort security watch. Ain’t that a bitch! My bike stayed on the bed of my rental truck for a least 2 nights before I finally decided to dismount it. The night before my bike was stolen, I dismount the bike and chained it to a concrete post. I even parked my bike in eye view from our room balcony! I woke up the next morning and looked out my balcony and to my shock my bike was gone..! I ran downstairs as fast as I could and I couldn’t believe my eyes while I stared at an empty parking spot! Chain and all the bike was gone. I literally ran to the resort check in area and raised hell! I got the managers involved and beg them to check the security camera.! To my luck they didn’t have any security camera’s in the parking lot! The resort calls a sheriff and they get to me with in a few minutes which it was nice. They filled me a claim number (report) etc and blah blah….
Here is the real horror..! I called my insurance company and they tell me that my policy will not cover theft…! I dropped my cell phone in horror..!!!!! Apparently I was stupid enough to only get liability coverage on my bike..! Now I’ve spent almost my entire vacation on the phone with police, resort managers and driving around Miami area looking for my bike. WHAT A NIGHTMARE this has been…! It puts tears in my eyes knowing I will be making my way home tomorrow with out my bike!
Honestly guys… I’ve lost a few meaningful things in my life, but this has to be up there as one of the most painful… I haven’t slept for days…

If you have a loan in MI you have to have full coverage. If you can afford to pay for the bike in cash and just keep liability then I guess you can afford a new one OR full coverage. I have full coverage, theft, fire, flood and earthquake on my vehicles.

Bike theft is not a huge problem here. I know of one that has been stolen recently..from his unlit driveway in a bad neighborhood. Hell, my buddy has his own "shop" in his garage and leaves stuff in the front yard...says a thief won't take anything that has to be worked on. Been right so far...But seriously it has never crossed my mind, need to check with the insurance co.

I can only imagine how this feels. It has to be a gut twisting feeling.

Someone explained in a previous thread....Yamaha credit cards = no "payment on bike", just on credit card, so no full coverage required. Helps increase sales. F'd up, I know.

I had full coverage and moved from San Diego to NC. In san diego they just look up the kelly blue book value and write you a check. I leaned the f*&^% hard way that out here it's a "said worth" polocy" even though I transferred from state farm CA to state farm NC. They kindly set me up for a $2000 said worth policy so I am getting only $2000 for my bike which I had a loan on and I had full coverage. Well now I found out I had full coverage to $2000. It happened a week after I transferred and moved here.
So guy's make sure if you have a "said worth" kind of polocy, which I've never heard of tell the claims guy called me, that you make sure its for the max value of your bike. I'm fighting it big time because I never told them $2000 they never even asked me or told me it was a different kind of policy then CA.
Good luck on your bike bro I feel your pain..

You don't have to have full coverage. Along with liability insurance you can add fire and theft to your policy without getting full coverage and it's not as expensive. MAKE SURE YOU DECLARE THE VALUE OF THE BIKE.

I feel for your friend man. Hopefully it is just a joyrider and the bike is still around and not parted out yet.

That's what I was thinking because the price difference between the two is quite different. I hope you get it back. Good Luck

I NJ, Rider Ins. will cover up to 30,000.00 of mods if you have full coverage and receipts to prove what the bike is worth. I check on that before I put full coverage on my custom bike to be sure the ins. cost was worth paying for.

Being only 23 I pay quite a bit a month for full coverage for that reason, I would be wrecked if my ride got stolen. Sorry to hear but I will keep my eyes open in MI.
