Spools

I purchased a set of spools from Yamaha. They where silver with the tuning forks engraved on them - the type that a stud screws into the spool then you screwed it into the swing arm.

One of these sheared off. (I had used the paddock stand just one time since buying the R1 and I do not abuse the bike in any way.)

I was doing my pre-ride inspection and reached down to check it for tightness and it came off in my hand, clean. I needed an easy out to back out the sheared stud. I noticed that Yamaha is now offering a different type - the screw passes completely through the spool into the swingarm.

I'm not sure if there is or was a problem with these - I avoid going to the dealership as much as possible - but if you have these keep an eye on them or repalce them for peace of mind.

I replaced mine with Pit Bulls.
