Cylinder Head Help

I damaged the cylinder head on my engine and bought a used one. I asked him if the head needed to be decked and he told me no, that it came from a running bike. In the picture you can see there is a large scratch in the head. Will the head gasket seal that crack? It's deep enough to feel with your finger nail.

Is it even possible to deck the head when the valve seat is so close? Anyone have any suggestions?

Good chance that is going to be a problem. Maybe there is a product you can fill it in with that can withstand the heat and pressure.

you can deack the head. That scratch may or may not be a problem.

If you install it without decking the head I would for sure use a liberal ammount of copper coat on the head gasket.

dont deck.. take it to machine shop and have them put it on lapping table.. it with make sure its flat and not have to cut into it. it might remove some of material.. but not like decking it. prolly not charge u much for it. and im with Jay.. might or might not be problem.. if u use it like that..make sure to use good coats of copper coat on gasket.
