Do 01 R1 carbs have a fuel return line?

I have some R1 carbs that I'm installing on my VW gti and I'm trying to figure out what the small fuel fitting (3/16") on the opposite side of the carbs from the main fuel line-in is...I'm guessing its a return to the tank but not sure. Anything helps, thanks.

They don't have fuel return lines , but do have vent and over flow lines. thats what it is
