vibration at 5000rpm
Does anyone get a vibration in the stock windscreen at 5000 rpm?
My bike does it in every gear between 4800-5000 rpm. I have checked every bolt in the front end myself and had it looked into at the last service. I am positive it is the windsreen because if I grab it while im rolling the vibration goes away. Any response will help.

Yup. I can vouche for that, as well. It's the only gripe I have about my bike. There is probably not much that you can do about it unless you really want to get crazy with it. When the engine vibrations reach a certain harmonic you get the vibration; it has little to do with the windscreen itself other than the shape which makes it catch that harmonic frequency.

yep, same here, i'm not sure were it comes from but the thing is just louder/rougher/different at those rpm's not bad not a miss just not as smooth as everywere else in the rpm range. i just keep out of that rpm as much as i can.

Yeh but its in the range that i use constantly if it were up around 12,000 rpm i wouldnt be able to hear it and probably wouldnt know it was there either, but im still adjusting things on my bike so hopefully ill come across it.

I don't have any problems with mine The only thing I can think of that comes close is when I had my old bike and after I had somebody work on it, they forgot to put the two bolt in that hold the front fairing bracket to the frame(under the speedo). Thats why nobody works on my bike anymore except me!

Mine does exactly the same noise at around 5k rpm. It is the windscreen for sure cause when I grab it, the noise goes away. I've also checked the bolts, but the noise is still there.
My question is: Is it normal for this bikes to vibrate that much? My previous 2005 R6 had no vibrations at all. I know they are two completely different engines (and bikes ).

I've learned to live with it in mine by just staying out of that rev range as much as possible - free and easy mod even the most non-mechanically minded R1 owner can do
Service looked into it and said nothing they can do - just the bike's natural resonance at that rev range

replace the windscreen rubber grommets. they get dried and cause the vibration. i had the same problem. switched them for LP windscreen bolts and rubber grommets. when you replace the rubber grommets make not to overtighten the windscreen bolts.
