Alpinestars S-MX Air-Flo Jacket...COOL but safe?

What you guys think of the Alpinestars S-MX Air-Flo Jacket? It's top quality MOSTLY leather jacket with top safety features BUT 80% of the chest/stomach area is textile. I only wear leather because of the superior performance in crashes. Is this jacket basically a textile jacket with leather pieces? I mean wear will most of the damage occur on the jacket in a crash? Does wearing an ICON field armor vest underneath make my concerns mute?

This jacket is what I would buy if it was never hotter than 80oF:

id say wearing the vest underneath would probably defeat the purpose of having a perforated/textile "airy" jacket. i would go with a perforated full leather jacket instead. textile jackets dont hold up for sh*t in a crash over 30mph and who knows how your gonna land in said accident

The idea with the vest is that with my peferated GP jacket and teh vest underneath when I get really hot, zipping my jacket down half way or more in the front is MUCH cooler even in the city! So I figure an SMX jacket with textile would be a good compromise to my full leather GP jacket zipped down. The vest does not seem to block much air at all. I only wish I was Hancock so I could ride with a T-shirt and the vest only. Heck...why even ride at that point when you can fly right?

I have that jacket. Paid a lot but its worth every penny. I wear it all the time no matter how hot or cold it gets.

perforated/vented leather doesn't help much in real heat and humidity. i have this this. jacket, which i really like, but not for the summer. i have this this for the summer. may not be as safe, but it's safer than nothing. not sure if a vest would help, but you have to find something. would be safer to wear full leathers, but not when you're passing out from heat exhaustion and driving off a bridge or something.

Got the RC1 jacket and it's great! Lot's of leather and cool enough with motion. In fact many times I feel unbuttoned. Not sure where the wind is getting in, but it feels nice. City riding sucks as always just like with my perforated jacked. Nice big pockets inside too.
