How to Wheelie

Can someone please give me some advice, I am trying to wheelie off the clutch in first. I bought a DVD by Jimmy Fireblade who uses the 3-2-1 method.

He first says accelerate from standstill to 2000rpm then you close the throttle, press hard on the back brake and with two fingers bring the clutch in, then you release the back brake and throttle to 5000rpm and then you flick the clutch out fast. His method uses the front fork rebound to flick the bike. Jimmy DVD says you practice revving to 5000rpm and holding the throttle there on a neutral throttle maintaining that rpm. Once you hit 5000rpm you release the clutch. Apparently you dont keep the throttle open to rev past 5000rpm. Problem is I cant get my 600 up this way. Jimmy is using 600 Suzuki bandit with this method.

My question is is there a better method, should the throttle be held open rather than checked at 5000rpm as in Jimmys DVD. How do you clutch your bike up in 1st gear without fliipping it?

I like 2nd gear clutch ups around 50-60 mph.

Be careful man, the best way to learn is on a dirt bike out in a field some where if you have access to one. Other than that, find a safe place to do some "drag race starts", hold the throttle steady at a consistant RPM (every bike is different, experiment in 1000rpm increments) and feather the clutch till you get a feel for it. If you keep the throttle steady and use the clutch to accelerate it be very easy to control. Have fun and were your gear.

+1 on the above. I don't really like them on the street. Especially since I ride an R1. Something about the wheel being in my face that just makes me cringe. I can wheelie the crap outta my dirt bike and trials bike. Guess cause I can step off it if things go wrong. Or maybe, I am just a wimp. I dunno.
