Shit, that was for a 150.00. I clicked on the 190 55 17 and it jumped to 260.00 shipped. There went the good deal.

The age old saying of "you get what you pay for" definitely applies to tires. More than likely if you find Hypersport tires in the $200 or $220 range for the R1, they are discounted because of their age.
Normally after a year the Manufactures or Distributors lower the price to get the old inventory out which is why you find a wide range of tire prices. If your interested to see why there is a price difference on a certain tire, call the place your looking to purchase from and ask them if the tires they are selling are less than a year old. Many dealers don't even know how old the tires are. All they know is they got a great price on them.
You are always going to pay a little more for tires that are "fresh"

I am trying to find a set of tires to get me through the end of the winter season and last a while. right now i am not looking to burn them up on the twisties. mostly to commute. I found a set of battleaxe bt 014 for 225 shipped. Anyone think that is good? Maybe you can send link to better deal. Remember I am looking for mileage more than hugging the road for now. Thanks for the help.

Not sure on the price or shipping.. that was just a bookmark I saved as the lowest price available on the BT-016's. so I was passing it along.
Being in NYC.. and its what.. 28 degrees right now.. I doubt if I'll be doing much riding in the next two months anyways. Not to mention I still have last seasons tires on the bike. So if a 65-70 degree day does hit before mid April.. and I want to ride I still can.
I'm personally a Pirelli snob tho. And am holding out until I get DCIII's for the street for the cheapest price. And SuperCorsa DOT or Slick for the track. I have two sets of wheels.. and Im scared running Pirelli on the track.. and Bridgestone on the street will fukk up my bikes geometry.

Just picked up some Pirelli Diablo Corsa III`s. How do you feel about those?? I have never ran Pirelli. Got a good deal so figured what the heck. Has to be better than the Cheapo Shinko that I tried last year.

Pirelli is the tire GOD in my world. I have ran every tire they currently offer except the Diablo Supercorsa (which I will run this year). Pirelli is reknown for using a softer carcass than any other manufacter. Which many racers & trackday participants have found that it allows their tires to slide and spin more before losing all out grip. What that means is that tire gives you alot of indication before actually letting go and you wrecking. I cant tell you how many saves I've had on Pirelli's, too many to name.. but I can tell you I've never wrecked on them (knock on wood).
The PDC3 is nothing but an improvement on the original PDC. Its so good it is the control spec tire for WSBK 600cc class. Nesba, the most strict track day org I know.. recommends the PDC for its beginner and intermediate groups on its trackdays because it heats up quickly, doesnt require tire warmers, sticks like hell (even the Control Riders use them) and last a really long time.
It also makes a great street tire for those exact same reasons. I honestly cant think of a stickier tire that is recommended for street use.
BTW.. how much did you pay for your PDC-3's.. and where did you get them from?

I got them from a guy on the forum. I paid 60.00 shipped for them, and they have less than 700miles on them and the guy was honest. They are like brand new.

Have had Pirelli Diablo Rosso's for about 5k(rear),about 1k(front).
Love'em. very confident in their grip.
for what its worth. i ride atleast 95 miles a day.cold, wet, pouring, fackin cold and zomg i wish i hadnt road in today (bout 25ish) and ofc the better weather days. prob gonna get someone from the north talkin smack about temp now but back to the tires.
prob got about 45-50% down the center left.done a few burnouts.
i bought the front new off ebay for 115 shipped. got the rear @ cyclegear when my threads were showin for... uh, maybe 180 pretax, cant remember. looks like if you buy front and rear separately you could get'em for about 250 shipped.
as i would def love to pay less for a set I also don't see myself getting anything but pirelli.

I've definitely decided on Pirelli's Diablo series but I need to get a good deal on them. Denniskirk.com has free shipping over 100 but are their prices good? Where are you guys getting your tires this year?
