Pirelli Corsa

Hey guys my R1 came with Pirelli Corsas from the dealer and I have been reading a lot of threads here on tires since I am going to need replacing in a few months probably. And One thing that is confusing me is the corsas that I have on there now, are almost 50 bucks more expensive than the corsaIII?? That didnt make any sense to me so I thought I may ask here and see if you guys had any input on this. I would think the corsaIII would be a better tire but I could be mistaken.

I run DC3's. love em. figure on spending $325-$350 for a set w/ a 190/55 rear.

The front is single compound, basically just a medium corsa. The rear is medium center w/ softer sides... From what I understand..

Either way, the corsas are a great tire, but I prefer the 3's...

the stocks on your R1 are corsa L... specially made for Yamaha, i haven't noticed any diffrence between the "L" and the III in the rear (still running the original "L" in the front) not tested on the track though.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. Yea it is the Corsa L on there and Corsa E or something on the front. I havent had any issues with the tires, they feel good, great actually compared to the Dunlops that came on my R6. Just was thrown off when I saw the Corsa III in 190/55 for 50 bucks less than the Corsa in a 190/55. Would think the multiple compound would be more expensive. Strange. So I am not sure if I should stay with the Corsa, Corsa III, or maybe the SuperCorsa? I have 2500 miles on the Corsa OEM and they still are in great shape. No complaints there.

the corsa 3 are great tires, hated the pilots, and a buddy of mine that runs a shop has recomended the new bridgestone bt 14's, just in case you need more options.

I bought my '02 R1 used from someone who put on Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pros. Now, the sides seem pretty worn out, which i'm guessing he knew how to ride the bike, but the centers seem perfect...? can anyone tell me any info about these tires? being 19, my father wants me to get new tires "for the rain or i'm ****ed" so i've been checkin out the Dunlop Qualifiers... good choice? HELP!!

They are race tires used on the track. This is why the sides are worn down. Do what your father says. Get them off and put on some street rubber like Pilot Powers, Bridgestone BTO-16's, Corsa III's or Qualifiers. Since you know nothing about the tires you have on right now and your only 19 I'd say your probably new to bikes. Those Supercorsa's are not made for everyday street riding and require lot's of heat for them to stick and stay sticking. Also, they won't channel water nearly as good as street tires will. These tires can put you on your butt real quick if your not careful.

Yeah I would change them for sure dude. Its true those aren't quite made for street riding, they do need some heat. I personally wouldn't recommend the qualifiers. I had them on my r6, they were ok. But I have the Pirelli Corsas on my R1 and I feel a lot more stable and confident on the turns. Next pair I will prob get the Corsa III and try them or stick with these.

DennisKirk had a great price on the Corsa IIIs last I saw.
