2004 R1 - Is this engine sound normal? Loud clack from clutch?
Does my engine sound abnormal?
Watch the video clip. ( http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...58858981884479)
I'm running a stock exhaust. My clutch seems noisy (clacking?) and there is a slight 'knock' I can sometimes feel through the handlebars that isn't evident if I pull the clutch handle in. I have heard that the 2004-2006 have noisy clutches, but I haven't seen many other R1's I can compare it to.
Also, the bike cutting itself off (as it does in the video) just started doing that today, presumably because of the stalling/TPS issue that many 2004's have... or so I hope! I just called the dealership today to have them order the parts for the recall work.
Thanks in advance

Mine sounds/feels the same way. It doesn't cut off or anything but it's surely clutch noise (it goes away when you pull in the clutch lever).
I'm not worried about it as others tend to sound the same. If anything, mine is a hair louder since I removed the clutch wire when I replaced the clutch.

....also when I had my TPS recall done I had the dealer listen to the noise. They said the clutch needed replacing. I took it to my local bike shop and they had a R1 in the back that was doing the same thing. They didnt recommend changing the clutch until it completely went out. That was 2 years ago. I been rolling ever since with no problems.
