Better then Goo-gone
I removed the decals from my 09 last night and even with using a blowdryer to heat em up it left a nasty residue. I didnt have any goo gone and alcohol was putting swirls in the paint. So i went thru my cabinet and remembered an item I used on an old car to remove the residue from the tint. Citrus 2
I stil had a bottle of it. and it worked great. had a couple spots that took some elbow grease but nothing i broke a sweat over or really had to use any force on.
And before anyone says it...NO I dont work for the company that makes it. Just helpin people save some money and get a good product. heres a link to the first site that popped up with i went to goggle shopping
http://www.shoplet.com/office/db/BMT633712927.html
less the $6 and a huge bottle. And good for uses all over the house too! Always a plus...you can use it in the garage and the woman uses it in the kitchen haha

Thanks for the info. Rubbing alcohol is great for removing latex paint off your bike paint job. Now I use a spray that does not hurt clear coat at all. I will have to go out and find it. But thanks for the heads up.

stuff does work great. I cant get those damn yamaha stickers off even with a blow dryer! I am about to just take sand paper to it and have the lower fairings repainted.

I found it best to get a dry cloth like a microfiber. rub over the areas you know still have residue. the cloth will leave it "tacky" and a lot more noticable. then apply the Citrus and its gone with even less elbow grease...which wasnt much to begin with. not sure why...but making it tacky tends to help break it up easier

I've been thinking of doing the same to my yellow 09'. I just don't know what to replace or break up all that black with. Do you have any pictures of it stripped and what are you planning on doing in the end?

Yeah Ive got a pic of it striped. I tried a large YZF logo in the old 98 style font. but it was just cut wayyyy to big it looked hideous. right now Ive just got the 04-08 style R1 logo in yellow on order. Ill post some pics once I get those in. ok just checked my comp. I dont have any decent pics of it naked. ill get some before I head to work and try to post it up once i get there

Hey thanks. I was playing around with the cheaper Photoshop version earlier today and trying some things out. I even had the sides painted cadmium yellow but let myself down by trying to break it up with my hand drawn graphics package.
Keep us posted on when you got her done.

haha im so indecisive about the stickers. thats why i stick with the cheap ones...$5-15 here or there doesnt mean much. if i dont like it...rip it off and go naked again. I just feel it needs something to break up the large amount of black right there

Yeah, the black just needs broken up some.
I wish my photoshop skills were better or they existed at all. I was trying to take the graphic off from the 2009 white/red and put it on our bikes. I know I could have one made locally for pretty cheap or just buy a set. They are not listed on anyones parts catalog yet.
I could go over to the local Ski-Doo dealer and buy one of the bees like on their sleds but the yellow is like the guy at the end of this sentence.

its on the Cowling #2
Ref #6
GRAPHIC 2, R UR FOR BWC1
14B-28392-50-00
for a set of 2 with the YZFR1 coupon its like just under $70. but they are still red. if they were yellow I would be all over it.

Forgive me, I'm been on some meds.
I meant the style of the 2009 white/red. I just was looking at the 2010 blue/whites graphics too. I might have to buy a set and take them to a local decal shop. Matching the yellow might be a downfall.
I wish someone could photoshop the 2010 blue/whites side cowling decals on our yellow/black. I've never been a big fan of flames.
I don't see the 2010's listed.
