FS: 2004 Silver R1 - Motor Mods - 8200 Miles - $7000 - Oak Ridge, TN

I am selling my 2004 R1 to allow me to buy a new BMW S1000RR. My Yamaha has extensive motor work, including: Kent Cams yam22 race cams, ported and polished head, YEC race base and head gaskets, shaved head for an actual calculated compression ratio of 13.5 to 1. The crank shaft has been lightened and balanced by APE Racecranks, and much effort was put into determining the correct cam timing for the current setup and use. The bike has a Power Commander 3 USB and the Graves Motorsports Power Commander ignition module W/ their custom ignition map. The motor is super strong, with a monster midrange and screaming top end.

The chassis has front forks with Race Tech gold valves set up for standard rebound and digressive compression damping shims. The bike suspension is currently set up for an agressive street rider that weighs around 210 pounds with gear. The windshield is a double bubble by Puig and the air filter is a BMC Race filter. The exhaust system is a full titanium race system by Ti Force. The bike was dyno tuned several times by Chris Hill at Performance Psycle in Knoxville, TN. The tires are fresh (About 1500 miles) Dunlop Road Smarts, 120 70x17 front and 190 50x17 rear.

This bike has 8200 miles and has never been crashed, dropped, or abused in any way, and has fresh brake fluid and oil/filter replaced this winter in preparation for this riding season.

I tried posting this earlier, but can't find that one this evening?

PM me if interested. Mike

2004 R1 add on

Hi everyone - I forgot the derestricter (Nikko Box Race) that removes the HP limits in the first 3 gears and the top speed limit in 6th.

Got any dyno sheets? Would like to see the numbers she is putting out.

Also can you please take a few more pictures showing the complete right side, front and rear views as well. Thanks!

I will take some more pics of the bike today and post them this evening. I have several dyno charts of the bike, and will have to find a scanner to post them onto this site. I will check with some of my friends to see who has a scanner. Thanks.

I will add some pics to this post. I have receipts with my past years tax files (somewhere!) The nikko box removes HP limits in the lower 3 gears and the top speed limit. The way it is geared now, at the redline in 6th gear the bike would be going 189mph. I have seen 175 on my gps, but my chicken factor jumps up nowadays, so I don't know it will do 189, I think it would with someone younger and braver than me!

I wasn't aware there was a top speed limit or a hp limit on the 04 bikes....

Do you have a reference for this?

I found some dyno sheets, I still need to scan them. The tuned stock motor sheet was 164.3 and 80.5 ft lbs. The 3rd gear run without the nikko box on it was 148.4 HP and 65,4 ft lbs. I do not have a dyno sheet newer than these, as I spent 2 years testing different cam timing and porting while unemployed. I am now retired, and the days are going great. If anyone tells you that you will be bored to death in retirement, Its a lie!

I forgot that I am running the Graves Motorsports velocity stacks. These seem to make it pull harder below the peak and at less than 100% throttle. I did not see much if any peak HP increase on the dyno.

All sport bikes since first year of the ZX-12 Kaw (2002, I think) have the speed limit set at 186 mph.

Ahh...yes, the G-Pack. I'll reserve my comments on it's...effectiveness.

Good luck with the sale man.

Ahh...yes well ok...the gentleman's agreement - the speedo stops reading.

Thanks, I did not see any peak power like they claim, but it does allow full power in the first 3 gears. This is not always a good thing as the wheelies in 1st and 2nd are vicious!
