PIC Request: 04-06 Rear Suspension Bottom Link

Hey all,

I'm finaly getting around to putting my baby back together and I have run into a few snags. I cat remember which bolts go where :P

I'm working on the rear end of the bike right now and cant seem to figure out which boilts go through the rear "wishbone" link. This bolt is the lowest one one of the three bolts around the suspension wishbone.

If anyone has a picture or could take one of whats on there bike right now that would be awsome. Once I have that sorted the motor is going back in there

Tim,

2 of the bolts are the same and 1 is different. The odd bolt goes through the lowest hole in the arm relay that's closest to the rear of the bike. Check out the schematic (bolts 24 & 27) to see what I'm talking about.

Don't forget to grease them to avoid a squeaky rear end

Thanks SAB.
Just what I was looking for. I will have to go over the bike as it sits now and torque everything down. I'm hoping to hvae the motor back in here this weekend.
I'm pretty sure that I currently have the incorrect bolt in there right now as it is far to long. I had a look over the schematic the other day and saw what look like spacers/collars in there and though I may be missing those but just looks like I used the wrong bolt :P

Now my other issue is that I need a new chain and sprocket combo but I do not know if my swingarm is an 06 or 04-05 :P. Unfortunatly I need to know as the 06 has a 118link chain and the 04-05 has a 116link chain and I get my stuff all pre-cut to the length I need.

Any insight on this one?

PS the frame is from an 06 but the swing arm I am not sure.

Tim,

The swingarm is an easy ID. If you have an 04-05 arm, the distance from the beginning of the chain adjuster slot (think if you were to push a ruler as far into the adjuster slot closest to the front of the bike in the arm) to the end of the adjuster slot (the absolute end of the swingarm) should be about 9.5 centimeters. If you have an 06, it will be noticeably longer in the same area.

If the arm is off the bike, there is also a part number that you can cross ref. in the parts manual.

No worries buddy! I've had the rear arm off an on more than times than I'd like to admit. If you get stuck along the way feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll try and help.

As compensation for my services, you now must call and harass your customer with the Harris swingarm and get him to sell it to me
