For Pete sake: Bar end insert removal!! Help!!

Once in for all: Can some one tell us how to remove the bar end insert from stock 2008 R1!!

I have seen many threads way back to 2002 and no such clear answer.

I've bought new bar end mirror to replace the ugly stock mirror. but cannot remove the bar end insert. Is it true that 2008 insert cannot be removed? Is it better to mount the new bar end mirror with external adapter? or Internal adapter???

It seem like the insert is pressed into the clip-on tube. So is it OK to pry it off? somebody told me that the 2008 model cannot be removed...

There should be no need to remove the insert if you bought the right type bar end mirror

Yet another southern man with smart mouth...

Funny that you have mentioned - I happen to be a scientist working at a well known Solar Energy company. What do you do for living?? Let me guess...Fork-Lift at Home Depot?

Does it make you feel more superior to making others look stupid?

Cheers

True! I know I don't have to remove the insert. I just happen to have purchased a kit that came with the Internally mounting hardware. I'm just checking out my options...

Let me get this straight, you're a scientist and can't figure out how to mount a bar end mirror?

I know cab drivers, even Limo drivers that can figure this out.

If you can't resolve the problem with oxy acetylene, you need a firearm.

You don't seem to have mastered this Forum too well yet either.
All questions posed here will have at least 10 smart ass remarks, it's the way it works and, if you give it a chance, half of what makes this place the best Forum on the net. It's a family here and as such the family gives each other shit. just give it back and move on, personal attacks will just get you sent to your room and you will never get the information you seek. (And trust me, whatever your question someone here likely knows the answer )

Now with that said, if you still want an answer, post a pic of what you have and we'll give you your options

Well being a southern smartass I figured out a long time ago that the insert Is pressed.I also figured out without working for a well known solar company that does not make bar ends, that pressed in items are under pressure because they are usually slightly bigger than what they are going in. So my smartass figured that since they are rubber stick the screw back in and twist till it is all they way in.

Then just put something between the screw head and end while twisting the screw.
This adds pressure to pull it out and the screw will help twist the insert making it in effect smaller while you pull on it.

Now yeehaw where's my sister
