Hey everyone,
I've been trolling around on the forums for a couple of months now gathering info and doing research, getting ready to buy a bike I have been after. I finally picked her up last week, and couldn't be happier. This bike is the new love of my life.
I bought the bike from a seller I found on another forum I'm on for turbo Buicks, and fell in love with the bike immediately. I was originally in the market for an R6 or CBR600RR, but this bike won me over and I patiently worked out a deal I was happy with. I had to make a road trip out to Phoenix, AZ to get it (made the whole drive from West LA and back in a day!) But it was worth it.
She has the usual mods like sliders, fender eliminator, and flush mounts, but the Akrapovic exhaust and PCIII were nice upgrades that helped sell me. I liked that it had all the mods I would have inevitably done, but nothing too custom that can be off-putting as a buyer. I thought it was perfect.
I've been taking it easy this week, getting used to the power curve and the different riding style (most of my riding in the past has been on Harleys.) My initial impression is that is seems to be a little sluggish at low RPM, which takes some getting used to, but once it winds up its insane, like a turbo is kicking in. It scares me a little. :scared
I got sold on a sportbike while riding my best friend's CBR600RR, and that bike still seems more user-friendly to me - I feel like I can toss it around a lot easier than the R1. But this bike is so badass, I can sacrifice a little maneuverability for the power and that ruthless bark every time I rev it up. This thing is sick! I'm sure I'll get used to it as I gain experience with it anyway.
Here are a few pics, because we all know thats all that matters (all taken with an iPhone 4S...not a bad camera with decent lighting!)
On the road back from Phoenix, buying my third tank of the day
In her new home, my garage
Detailing in the garage at 1AM because I was still too excited to sleep
Some posing pics I took while I was passing through Downtown
Hope you like the pics, and I look forward to dealing with you all on the forum. The Buick forum where I bought the bike is one of the best online communities I've ever been a part of, and it looks like it will be no different here!
See you on the road and online,
MeanOne
