2000 Oil level switch/Sensor

First things first pretty sure my oil level sensor is busted the Oil light comes on once the coolant temp shows around 60C sometimes earlier.

Oil level is at the top of the glass when level on rear stand after sitting for a few mins warm.

Once the light comes on it pretty much stays on the whole time i ride it will go out occasionally as far as I can tell it is at random. does this sound like the switch is busted???

Next question The local Yamaha dealership says the part alone costs AUD$245. I'm considering ordering one from the US as they are only around $60-80 + shipping. I'm assuming they are interchangeable.. can anyone confirm?

Thanks a bunch in advance!!!

I can't confirm off the top of my head the interchange but I would bet they are the same. It's very common problem. The sensors were junk in them. I've went through two.

R1 Oil Sensor Switch

Does anyone know if it's possible to clean the switch? I assume its gunk from the engine that collects inside and blocks/jams it 'on'
