2000 r1 drag
Ran my r1 at the local strip the best time i could get was a 11.8. I thought it was weird that my 1/8 mile speed was 100 and my 1/4 mile speed was only 115. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on simple things to do to shave some time off? It is stock except it has a dyno jet stage one kit in it and an igniton advancer. I was just running out of 2nd and into 3rd.
Thanks for any help!

You should be going through the trap in 4th gear. Shift each gear at redline 11,750 not any sooner. You're missing 10 to 15 mph at the 1/8 and 15 to 25 at the 1/4,take the ignition advancer off as its not any help. Strapping the frontend down will help a whole lot, I have ran a best of 9.90 @ 141 on my '00 all stock with only a strapped frontend and a 10.17 @ 138 no strap . Those are the BEST out of literally THOUSANDS of runs I have on this bike. Stage at 1500 rpm with no strap and 4000 with a strap, very important to shift at redline to avoid wheelies after shifting with an early R1 as the low-mid torque is so strong. If you shift too soon it will most likely wheelie in second gear,if its not doing wheelies on you the clutch could be bad.

I was shifting around 12, i thought i should be around 4th also. What do you mean by straping the front end? Also, you dont think a change in sprokets would yield better results?

The strap goes over the frame in front of the fueltank and each end goes to a caliper bolt,it compresses the forks lowering the frontend. You can launch harder and it will help keeping wheelies down. Stock gearing is good, going lower just does wheelies.

Go to tobefast.com or SchnitzRacing.com ,they both sell the straps . They will be under lowering or suspension or straps, about $25 or so. They are special straps with a bracket with a hole for the upper caliper bolt on each side. When you go to the track ask for some help from the other riders there,I've been going for a long time and enjoy helping people go faster . Bike guys are generally very helpful to new riders at the track, all you have to do is ask for any help you need no matter how trivial you think it might be. Where do you live?

hey guys i made some brackets for a strap at work, i want to use a ratchet strap with a carabiner on the end to hold it to the bracket. I was thinking of this so i wouldnt have to worry about the hook on the strap poping out. Any ideas on what kind of load rateing i would need?
Also what about the rear end settings, should i strap that down too? im a big guy 220# 6'4"
