I had a Speed Triple before my R1, and had that bike had 50 more HP (and a fairing) it would have been the ULTIMATE track bike...

So 3 cylinders, 175hp & lose 25lbs (or more) I'd be really interested

Same here.

I loved the engine in my Speed Triple, it just needed a bit more power and some better suspension.

You are a master of understatement, it's unfortunate that Triumph chose the frackin crapiest suspension components for the S3. And not being able to get more than 115 rwhp out of 1050cc ...

But What a Brilliant Chasis.

If Yamaha takes the best of the 3 Cylinder Characteristics and creates a competitive SuperBike, it could be a helluva ride

For the R6, maybe. For the R1, I am not sure if the triple engine will be powerful enough.

It will be a 1100cc.

I was hoping to either keep the cross plane and lighten the crap out of it or change to a V4 like the companies are doing. Honda is supposed to be switching to a V4 in 2014

As a current owner of a Daytona 675, if Yamaha were to put out a superbike with a triple engine that had comparable power output to the current crop of inline 4s I'd buy one. Triples rock!
