First big guy bike... whatcha got?
okay.. so a conversation with the old man, not so long ago... surrounding bikes
you've owned, sold.. what not.. and just plain BIKES you remember as fitting like a glove!! weather yours or one of your buddies and wish you'd still have around!!....
here's MINE.!!
THIS WAS ACTUALLY ONE TWO MODEL'S WHICH ABSOLUTELY MESSED WITH MY RIDING SKILLS... and got it down to a science in some ways as well. though of course a road bike is a whole other animal..
circa 1980!? the old man had a white one {originally red} like this one, but this one he kept original MONTESA RED!... i learned to do stand up wheelies on this thing.... at the age of 10 i was facking up his clutch by tossing her onto its back wheel and carrying that suckah a good spanish mile... {85% n.amer. block}

My first big man bike was an '88 GSXR1100. It was all motor and it went wherever the road surface sent it. It was all I could do to point it where I wanted it to go.
The bike that fit me best (apart from my 06R1), that I wish I still had, was a '96 NSR 250 MC28. I had it after the 1100, and a new 96 750 Gixxer, and it was like having wheels for feet. Riding it was completely instinctual, I just thought and it went. And it beat every other bike I came up against on corner entry, road and track. By the time they came past towards the end of a straight, they had to brake again. I could hold it open till the last moment, bang down through 4 or 5 gears (dry clutch, 2 stroke engine braking), and chuck it on its ear. Dudes used to give up, back off and let me go.
I really wish I still had it, although I'm 20kg heavier these days!

Nice Montesa! I have a 1976 Cota 247 out in my barn that ran about 20 years ago. Needs a full restoration which I will give it someday.
I have two picks for my first big boy bikes. Dirt was my 1985 Yamaha YZ250 and street was my 1992 Honda CBR 600F2. Both were very user freindly, comfortable to ride and taught me how to wheelie, brake and corner. Loved them both!!

My first bike WAS my first big bike! An HD Dyna Super Glide that I bought new in '05, when I was 23, and actually learned to ride on. Dropped it twice the first day like a total noob. Not the smartest move in retrospect, but I managed.

first big boy bike was a 95 kawi gpz1100. it was big and heavy and long but it took me where i wanted to go. worked flawlessly for 2-3 months then got a crazy valve tick. kept it for few more months till i got my r1 and its be history.
i've only been riding since 05. the r1 was my third bike i got back in 09 and this year i've had 3bikes. now that i got the hang of buying/selling/trading i love having a second bike that i can to as i please with.
my current side bike is my 02 honda superhawk 1000. its funish but compared to my r1 it just doesnt get the juices flowing. gonna try to trade/sell it before next season

After growing up with Triumphs and Nortons I went to the dark side with Harleys. One day my brother let me ride a Kawasaki 650 4 cylinder. I was hooked and bought a 1978 Kawasaki Z1R. The thing was like a bullet, pull the trigger and it launched you but don't try to turn or stop it.

my first bike was a 2004 yamaha vstar 650 silverado. bought it brand new without knowing how to ride. old man took it to a parking lot. I learned how to ride it pretty well in about an hour. road tripping on it within a month.
got rid of it for a roadstar 1700 silverado.....then moved into the R1 world after that
the 650 was easy to toss around. but my 09 r1 fits me perfectly

First bike was a somewhat beaten 04 600RR. Decent bike, pretty fun. Don't miss it at all, though.
