Aftermarket clipons

Can someone explain to me why I should, or shouldn't put aftermarket clipons on my road bike? They look cool, but the stock ones bolt to the triple clamp, and wouldn't that be more secure? Thanks, this may be a dumb question, but I would like some guidance. Bruce.

Do a search...tons of good responses. The wider stance and adjustability for riding position, style, and comfort are some of the reasons. To me the bike handles better with the clip ons out wider. Most trackday and racers use them for added stability and ease of replacement if they wreck. I recommend Renthal clip ons. I am able to set them precisely b/c they have numbered markings on both pieces. Hope this helps.

Hi Bruce

I have Gilles Tooling Variorbars. They looks awesome and they can be ajusted to what ever angle you like. thats a plus +
Also, the tube bar is longer. better to install after martket MC/Clutchs level another plus +
The fork clamp is probably double the size of the stock with two bolts. Enough to tigh the shzzet out of the forks. Super secure! another plus+
