Wrecked my bike...
A sad day for me yesterday morning.
Was on Thanksgiving break at home and it was actually my last day home before heading back to base, and I happened to get into an accident. Was going about 20 maybe 25 mph on impact (I'm not really sure) came out with only with some sore/torn tendons in my leg. (EMT's/Paramedics and such told me if I hadn't have been wearing my boots, I'd had lost my left leg.)
I have some pictures of the damage here for you guys, take a look and let me know what you think I should do with it/what way I should go about it.
And with your suggestions, if able, include some prices of what I'd be looking at (I don't really make much, I'm in the army.)
From what I've been talking to my buddies;
Some say make it into a track bike.
Some say to just part it out.
Others say that it actually looks a lot worse than it really is and that with about a 1-2 grand (front bracket/fairings/rewiring) I can fix it all up if it I do it myself.
I'm kind of stuck here on what to do, so I thought I'd call upon you guys to save the day with your opinions/thoughts/comments/suggestions.
Some notes:
From what you can see, the entire front end pretty much came off.
I tried starting up the bike and it still runs, haven't tried putting it in gear and riding it though.
I don't think the frame is bent.
I don't think the forks are bent.
However I had to leave so soon after the accident that I really had no time to really check it out much.
And also, be safe out there, I was not doing anything reckless and still managed to get into a pretty serious accident. It's not always about your own skills. The terrain around you, cars, and all those other things come into play. And ALWAYS wear your gear. Hopefully I'll be up and on a bike soon enough to join you guys.
Appreciate all the help.
Dan

Hard to tell a lot from the pictures but it IS as bad as it looks. I would say for a nice ride, pending NO bent frame or forks, your over a grand easy.

I wouldn'tsay it is that bad, but going 20-25 MPH you did that brotha
I would say about $1500 given my eye-ball evaluation...
-eBay Fairings and fasteners
-Clip-ons, grips, and levers (levers optional)
-Fairing stay
-Ram air tubes
-Headlight assembly
-Mirrors (optional )
Given the frame, swingarm, forks, wheels, and tires are still good. If you do the work yourself you will come out on top, but if you pay a shop...
That bike should be back up and running in no time- Just make sure she comes back better than ever

From a guy that has rebuilt a completely MANGLED 09 R1, I would rebuild it. Take advantage of the clear title(I'm assuming it is clear).
From the LOOKS of those few pictures, looks like you need this:
Grips
Headlights
Mirrors
Fairing Stay
Touch-Up Paint on the Tank
A Few Fairings
Cant really see anything else major
All that shouldn't run you a grand(mainly depending on the fairings, whether you get OEM or aftermarket replacements)

I low sided mine, and in AUCTMART fairings, grips, rear sets (bent), fairing stay (broke), levers, bar ends and kick stand I was just over a grand. IF he is lucky enough to save the headlight assembly and cluster he is still at 1K. Plus tons of work!!! Hopefully the OP extremely mechanically inclined...

those are the cheap chinese knockoff plastics, get another set and start looking for parts on this forum. If the frame forks and wheels are good, my estimate would be:
fairings + 500 bucks for other parts.

Other than the fairings, any other parts are not that expensive.

Not in the least upset...
Simply stating what I have seen and have been through. I spent 1K on fairings + all other miscellaneous parts to make mine presentable to myself. Most stuff I found used. Some new. But my bike looked WAY better than his post crash. I rode mine for a week after words...
Why are the panties getting up in knots fellas???

Well put... But no. I believe Auctmart was around 560 delivered, plus 150 used rear sets, plus 20 grips, plus 50 fairing stay, plus 25 cheap bar ends, plus 60 used kickstand... That's only 800 something... Lol! I did a full tune up, HID conversion (all 4), and halos while I had her apart. I forgot I included that in the figures...
