Question Case split...

Want to get the case split so i can get the crank/piston n rods out...

I know i got to take the oil sump off and the oil pump to get to the bolts, but do i have to remove the clutch and stator assembley as im only lifting the crank out and removing the pistons...

I will obviously need to remove the clutch and stator cases, but if i get the case undone it should lift right off i would have thought..?

Stator is bolted to both halves of the cases from what I remember, the flywheel was a bitch to remove (I remember that) I would remove the clutch & basket too,as the oilpump drive chain runs behind the basket. Much easier to install lower case half back on to upper with less "stuff" in the way. Easier to get the Yamabond 3 on the upper case half too, and for cleaning the old stuff off. Be sure the clutch basket is fully seated when reinstalling too, as it drives the oil pump. My '00 R1's oilpump drive chain was loose, I replaced the chain and both gears, but it was still loose IMO.
