That reminds me, where is Bob Costas with his speech about controlling alcohol availability. There would be 2 less dead NFL players last week if they didn't have access to alcohol.

Can't they conceal carry in Oregon?

Rip to the ones that died.

Even if they can, not everyone that carries will shoot unless it is THEIR life being threatened. There is still a lot of risk in shooting someone no matter how in the "right" you are

Sad but true

In Florida you can shoot to stop something like this, but I know rules are different elsewhere. It's pretty easy to justify shooting someone here, like in this case it would be open/shut

It should be open/shut but it isn't always the case AND the fact is you still have to deal with the legal system if you fire. I'd like to think I'd shoot anyway, but I don't know until it happens.

We have to worry about collateral damage down here.

I don't know specifics on that here in Florida and I actually need to research it more, but that's why I don't spray and pray, and regularly go to the gun range to target practice.

And yes I understand that target practice makes little difference when you're in the heat of the moment, your adrenaline is pumping, and you're being shot at. I just feel any preparation is better than no preparation

You mean like missing and hitting someone else? Texas has a immunity clause with civil liability if deadly force is justified

I would like to think that I would shoot also but the one thought that would always creep into my mind would be what if I miss and I hit another innocent bystander. Now my ass is in the grinder for murder even thou I had good intentions and it might have been justified.

They are not going to want to hear "I'm sorry for shooting that other person, I was trying to hit the other guy that was shooting everyone else. My bad."

Manslaughter at best, you would never get a murder charge for an incident like that. I would be more worried about the civil liability there.

I would argue we need to loosen the gun laws and allow ordinary hero's to carry. As Gearhead said, In Florida we have the right (and some self compelled duty) to step in to a situation like this. We are legally covered to protect ourselves (stand your ground) and to protect others. An example of the latter is the video of the 2 black guys robbing the internet casino in Ocala. A patron drew his weapon and shot at both of them. No charges were filed.

I agree(I was being sarcastic about more gun control), we should have open carry. Shit like this wouldn't happen with a bunch of gun toting rednecks at every corner.

You need to do more than that bud. Take a combat pistol class, run idpa, ipsc not one bad guy is gonna sit still while you shoot at them.

not if a bystander is hit via pass through or missing the perp all together.
