My buddy has a 2010 S1k, and although he loves it he said the regular upkeep for the thing is a pain in the ass. While we were still roomates in an Apt someone tried to jack his bike by sticking a scredriver in the ingnition. He ended up having to take it to the local BMW shop and forking over 700 for them to send a brand new ingnition and lock set for the thing.

If I had the physical skill and ability to ride the thing, the next bike I'd get would be the HP4. That's a damn tough bike.

With all the computer controls you don't need either the skill or the ability to ride it. You just get on it and yank on the handle.

Much like i found out when i was buying BMW M3 cars is that you tend to get tired of BMW once you have some issues. The M3's were great cars but everytime i had to go to the dealer for something stupid that BMW does it would cost me a fortune. I finally got out of my last one just earlier this year and now im buying jap cars again. Not the same feel as the german cars and not as fast since they impose restrictions on themselves that carry over to here but i get more for my money and i dont have to worry about $200 oil changes anymore.
Id imagine the sportbike owners will get to that point to. They will lose following due to prior owners just not wanting to deal with the company as a whole.

The power on my 06 R1 is more than enough for me so I'm not really concerned about the big 4 playing catch up.

You need to ride the RSV4. If a little is good, more MUST be better.

Yamaha needs to put a Slipper, Traction, ABS and all the other computer controls into a bike, while keeping the price reasonable - it probably won't happen.

I rode my mechanics RSV4 two weeks ago. It was cool. There was so much grunt on tap when I was riding my RC8 home I was thinking "this sucks!"

If I ever got anything other than a Yamaha it would be the RC8R the white and orange scheme that thing is sweet, I had a Suzuki TL1000r the widow maker for awhile and it almost earned its name on me haha great bike on lower end but it just couldn't hang with my r1
Stock

Wrecked

Rebuilt
And my true loves

That's a lil ignorant to say as it still takes big time skills to ride a bike to the limit of its abilities! Unless of course your name Lorenzo

I had an RSV for 2 years and it was amazing! Specially when I switched over to my 2012 r1 it felt a sluggish compared to it but the top end power was like getting slapped in the face!
I can only assume the that the RSV4 has the low end power of a v-twin and top end power of a inline which is the best! Just cant afford one of those things, bc if you get one it HAS to be factory or else you really just overpaid for a regular bike IMHO!

I concur with this statement!
