What an asshat manager

BELLEVILLE, IL (KTVI)– The Belleville Chief of Police has banned his officers from eating at the local Denny’s restaurant while on duty after an incident at the establishment New Year’s Day. A manager at the Denny’s Tuesday told a group of officers they could not eat at the restaurant if they were armed. Belleville Police Captain Don sax said, “It’s absolutely a slap in the face I totally agree it’s completely disrespectful. How can anyone think to tell a police officer you can’t be in here with your gun its absurd to me.”
Five on-duty but out of uniform detectives were in the middle of their meal at the Denny’s. The restaurant chain said a customer spotted one of the officers carrying a gun and alerted the manager. The manager told the detective she would have to leave or secure the gun in her car, that guns are not allowed in Denny’s. Even after the officers explained they were cops they were still told they could not carry their weapons in the business. Captain Sax said, “I’ve never known anybody that didn’t want a police officer present in an establishment in a business it’s added security it’s absolutely what they want.”
Sax said the police had their badges in full view, either by their handguns or they were wearing them around their necks. Plus, portable police radios were on the table. A second manager showed up and told the officers they could stay with their weapons. But, the detectives left anyway. Captain Sax added, “They had been harassed enough they have been embarrassed more than enough.”

People like this... only feeding the fire to support disarming U.S. citizens... Can't wait until no one has guns anymore and violent crimes maintain or skyrocket...

I'm appalled that the manager had the balls to go tell a bunch of cops to ditch their guns

I don't see the part where it says citizens can't have their guns in this story?

So you actually think only the cops can't have their guns in that store? Denny's sells alcohol. You can't carry where alcohol is sold and consumed in NC. I'm betting they have a similar law where this happened.

Im not the worlds biggest fan of LEO's. However I am siding with the law enforcement on this one. I carry my gun into Denny's and other places all the time. Even though they do not realize it. A criminal could do just the same. They are morons for wanting to disarm the good guys

Not to say you're wrong, but how do you know thats his standpoint?
My take on it is the manager supports a 0-gun policy and I would say this could be construed as more fire-arm hate and discontent.

That's too bad. I prefer to carry when I'm drunk as ****. I did at the gap.....

Cops should not have special priveleges. If we can't have it, they shouldn't have it. Do you not understand the purpose of the 2nd amendment? There's nothing in it that says only cops can have guns. So you're ok with it when the cops can have guns but you can't? Are you a citizen or a subject?

Dude, I'm not starting this argument in this thread, again. Saying cops shouldn't have guns because you can't have them in the same place isn't an argument of me being a "subject". Hell you can conceal carry in the capital building here in Austin. Saying an on duty cop shouldn't be armed with his weapon seems like a good way to have criminals capitalize on the situation

I feel the cops should be able to carry in Denny's and I also feel citizens should be able to as well. Just because someone agrees that the cops should be allowed does not mean they do not feel citizens should. Im sure Rex feels the same way.

I could understand saying an off duty cop shouldn't be able to carry if citizens can't.

Ahhh, I see. I forgot Denny's sold alcohol.
Is that a Federal law or a state law I wonder. Because many states don't even have a concealed carry allowance, right? Really our 2nd amendment rights have been violated for years... Okay, if that was this guy's point of view about keeping the cops w/ the guns out then bravo to him, but I still think this can be taken both ways.
